Seeing my new PM doctor tomorrow

I'd be pretty terrified myself in the same situation. Best of luck to you that the new doc will be exactly what you need.

It all turned out okay. It did take a lot longer than I had anticipated it would. When I signed in at 7:45 there were already 2 other people signed in for 8 a.m. appointments. My appointment was at 8, I wasn't called back til 9, then I sat in the room til 9:30 before he came in. We talked about what I've tried and what I haven't then he left the room to look at my MRIs and asked me to change into a gown in the meantime. He came back 20 minutes later (I assume he seen another patient while I was dressing). He did all of the usual range of motion checks and reflexed, heel walk, toe walk, bend forward, bend backward, chin to chest, blah, blah, blah. He said since I was having to take 6 of my Norco a day (which is my BT med) that my pain was not adequately controlled....huh, ya don't say....he upped my patch to the next one up and lowered the amount of my BT. He also wrote a script for Zanaflex for muscle spasms but I ended up not accepting it at the pharmacy because it isn't covered by my insurance and was over $100. I have called and left the nurse a message about that. He said he likes to use Cymbalta in conjunction with pain meds but I am already taking Celexa and really do not want to take Cymbalta...too many horror stories. After I got dressed another guy popped in and gave me a cup for a drug test and I had to sign the usual pain contract. Actually, it was a little different in that if I needed to go to the ER or dentist it was okay to accept meds from them but I had to call the office the next available work day to let them know where I went and how many of what they gave me. The guy who popped in said they give a urine drug test to all of their new patients and then from there on out they do them randomly. It is definitely not a problem for me, as long as I am receiving pain control I will pee in a cup any ole time. That's about it in a nutshell. He didn't try reinventing the wheel on me or taking me back to square one to start all over....that was my biggest concern.

LOL.....I haven't told hubby about the increased patch yet! I think I might wait on telling him to see if he notices the increased bust line I get from the patch on his own!!!!

You're right, people should have to pee in a cup if they have high BP too, after all, cocaine causes increased heart rate. It is only CP patients who have to run through the maze when it comes to getting help. There is such a small percentage of CP patients who become addicted but the docs cover their arses. I would think if the person is not receiving adequate pain control then of course they are more likely to try street/recreational drugs to find their own relief....so, if they do find illegal substances on the drug screen it would be more of a reason to try to help the patient rather than firing them.
