I need a new Primary Care Physician

This is more of a vent then anything.

I have been going to this local doctor for quite awhile now and to be honest I really wish I knew why I continue to see her.

She has never done anything for me! Just today I went because my head feels like it is in a vice. Some pain and pressure in my face, nose, upper teeth, ears. I am fatigued, nauseous, dizzy, etc. I have nasal discharge that is all colors of the rainbow. Red, White, Yellow, Green

She takes a look in my nose and tells me there is nothing she can do. She won't even Rx Antibiotics. Yeah I know docs don't like to give them out anymore but yellow-green, red discharge normally indicates an infection but not according to her. Then I bring up fungal infection and she tells me due to the fact that I am healthy she doesn't think that's the cause.

HEALTHY? Did she forget the fact that I am on SSDI for chronic pain due to Peripheral Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia, DDD, Herniated Cervical Discs, Reynauds Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis, Tarsal Tunnel, Type 2 Diabetes and possible Chronic Lyme Disease . Not too mention that I am on Opioid pain medications as a result of these conditions. UNBELIVEABLE

My Podiatrist saw my foot become cyanotic and told me I have Reynauds Syndrome along with stocking glove Peripheral Neuropathy and this PCP tells me that I don't.

Her Dx? There is nothing wrong with me except that I have allergies. While it is true that I have Allergies my sinsus symptoms should be investigated and not written off. As for my other conditions she doesn't have a clue.

She even went so far as to try to get me to stop the Opioids even though she does not Rx them.

This woman has never done a darn thing for me except butting in and trying to undermine my other doctors.

Why oh why do I continue to go to her?

If I knew of another doctor in this area I would drop her in a heart beat but the last thing I need is to go to another doctor and have them be just as bad if not worse.

To be honest your guess is as good as mine when it comes to why I am still seeing her. I'm a glutton for punishment. I think the reason might be that there are a limited amount of physicians in this area. I am also concerned that if I do find another doctor that they will be just as bad if not worse than the one I am seeing now.

I've been trying to get some ratings on local doctors but I just don't know that many people in which to ask.

At this point I am at a loss as to who I should see.

The thought has entered my mind from time to time that perhaps this doctor doesn't even want me as a patient but can't say anything to me about it for fear should it get back to her superiors. So her treatment or lack thereof is to get me to leave on my own. Either way if I knew who was a good doctor in this area I would fire my current PCP in a second.

Is there anyone in Maine that can recommend a decent and caring GP, Family care physician or an Internist ? Exitwound, Tspauld ?

I would fire her in an instant-the CVS Minute clinic would treat you beter than that. (Actually I like them they do exactly what I tell them I want them to do right up to letting me choose which antibiotic I wanted for the rainbow mucus).
Find someone better you deserve to be treated with respect by the people you are paying to be your healers.

Well I broke down and went to the ER last night. I know people speak of horrors when dealing with the local hospital emergency room but fortunately for me that hasn't been the case. I wish some of these ER docs had their own practice. Anyways, the doc took one look at me and could immediately tell that I was in need. He told me that I had one of the worst sinus infections he had seen in awhile and he promptly wrote an Rx for Zithromax.


I know it's been only one day since starting on ABx but I feel ever so much better. My face doesn't feel like it's in a vice anymore.
