vioxx..should they bring it back

anyone miss this medication? nothing worked like it....I wish they would bring it back for short term treat of imflamation...anyone agree?

Well, I think that everyone should be able to make their own choices so I guess as long as they make sure people understand the risk they could bring it back.

I personally spent about four nights wishing I had a handgun not becasue I wanted to die but because I was in so much pain that it made sence to me that if I took the gun and aimed it at my head and pulled the trigger it would have to hurt less then the headache. Nothing I have ever encountered including kidney stones has come close to being as bad as the vioxx headache. So even if they bring it back I am not touching the stuff.

I came across this thread and all I saw was painfreenow and a very short note about a drug called Voixx and a post from sjkly talking about a mind blowing, excuse the pun, headache as a result of taking this drug.

Guess what I'm asking is if anyone wants to let me know about this med and is one of it's uses, chronic pain? Appreciate any information.

I also went through Endometriosis and finally a total Hysterectomy at the age of 30. I had to beg for it because pain was the only other option and I agree that was horrendous pain. I felt very similar although a gun was never part of the picture. Oh I should'nt talk like that but to be blunt and more importantly honest it's a fact. I'm sure many of us that suffer have had the same feeling at that 10+ stage well, it's just scary.

That is why I'm here. I'm hoping and already finding out that the people are so very nice and willing to share words, thoughts and understanding with me and others that joined at the same time.

Vioxx is one of the cox two inhibitors (celebrex is another). They were implicated in some heart problems in some patients. They were used primarily to treat inflamation in Rhuematoid arthris and for short term pain relief.
Like all drugs some people found they were awesome and helped to reduce pain, increase range of motion, reduce inflamation....
I could not tolerate any of the cox 2s. There are still a bunch of lawsuits pending becasue of the heart issues.

Thanx sjkly I took celebrex and now the whole Vioxx thing is coming back to me. Now i'm out for sure.

How ironic, I have been thinking about this often since last week. I have quite a lot of an old 'script of vioxx left. I had it prescribed when I first got sick but it didn't work very well then. Last week I had a flare and nothing seemed to work so I delved into my old scripts hoping that something would help. And guess what? it seemed to work! on the days that I took 50mgs of vioxx I was able to halve my oxycodone BT meds.......but isn't it funny that I feel more of a criminal for taking old vioxx than most people think I should feel for taking "drugs" for my pain? really brings the issues of relativity to home I think....

What do you think the non-chronic pain patient feels is more "wrong"? taking legally prescribed narcotics for pain or taking an "illegal" non-narcotic? A moral brain teaser I think. :)

Vioxx is THE only NSAID I used that worked great! I've tired Mobic, Celebrex and all of the much older ones  and Vioxx was a winner for me, wa son it 2 yrs til it was banned.

well being on it for 2 yrs might be a problem ..now if they bring something like it back....im thinking of being on vioxx no more then 3 to 6 months...twos months being the best...thats all i needed for was a few months until i got over the hump...i believe they we bring something just like back soon....only to be used for short term....to much money to maid....i know some people suffered from vioxx...but it was saving my ass when i had bad imflamation pain.....its has it place...its not for long term pain for sure....but i found that juicing works for me better then vioxx now anyways...takes the pain away.....so i dont care if they bring it back now....good luck
