Do you you think that you are getting proper care?

My doc is great. All three of hte main ones I see anyways. Each one spends the time I need and listens to me. Granted they all run pretty late but I know that once I am in the room with them they will spend the time with me that I need. I also make it a point to come prepared and have all my questions typed out with a copy for them and my records.

Then again, to get to these good three I have fired many doctors and told more then a few where they can shove their god complex. I actually had a doc tell me (three weeks before my hysterectomy, I did not tell the doc it was my plan since they were a 2nd opinion doc) that nothing was wrong with my u/s even though I had read the report and there was a 15.9 x 14.2 x 9.8cm cyst on my ovary!!! Needless to say I showed her my copy and walked out the door.

The most recent doc drama was with the urologyst I saw over my kdiney stone. He was just a major donkey hole who had no time and then proceeded to give me a medication that fatally interacts with what I am currently on. Had I taken it, then needed my Epi-pen for an allergic reaction, I would have died! Needless to say I won't be back to see him!

This is a great topic because unfortunately we often don't get enough time with our doctors to even ask vital questions. My primary is a dream of a doc! But on occasion he has referred me to someone who was a jerk and I just walked, fired the goofball...lol Seriously, you are hiring these folks to work for and on you! YOU choose, not someone else.

thanks for your reply! My biggest problem and you can look this up is, Kansas is the worst state for Work Comp cases. They make up the rules as they go. about every 6 weeks, they will shut off my pay check of $224,00 a week, they do that just to try and upset me! It worked at first, but now I don't care.  My biggest mistake I ever made, was ever Doctor or Surgeon, I would ask them to get me out of pain, instead of saying ( I wonder how much I will get Paid) I have every intension of going to trail, They like to send you to one of there Doctors and have you evauluate, and then they will come back with this crap, i find the patien at a 25percent of a body as a whole disability!!!

 That isn't going to fly this time, you entire body depends on you lower back, if it is working right neither are you! i never wanted a dime, all i wanted was out of pain and to work! There are so many that all they want is to lay at home and cry about the pains, but they never want to go back to work! i wasn't raised that away, you work hard all your like to have something to show for all the hard work you have done!!

 I have found only one Surgeon that realy cared, and spent time with me, and expained things to me, since I have no L5, L4, L3, disc left, yes you can go in there and fuse them! The first time you make the wrong twist or turn you tear L2 and Now you are done!! this surgeon explain this to me, he told me there wern't to many options, one I needed to quite smoking so I could get more oxygen in the spine, and do 2 differnt exercises, and hope! He could of said you need Tri fusion, done it screwed me for life and made him a pile of money and the hospital he worked for a pile.

 It is said that not long after that they refused to re new his contract for he wasn't doing enough cutting!

 I am trying my best to learn to take everyday as it comes! i have allways been a person to have my weeks work planned by Sunday night, and never let anything stand still. Where as my job, I allways had to have 2-3 going on at the same time, or you wouldn't ever get done(long story)

I wish each and everyone of you the best, I hope that you all can get out of pain and get your life back on track! And that doesn't mean sitting on the sofa eating a candy bar a drinking a soda watching TV. What i mean is get your self to a liveable lifestyle, and go for it!

My PCP is terrific and does the best he can to help me. I am getting great care from him for most of my medical problems. He actually spends time with me and together we decide how to best treat my pain. He spent a half hour with me last time discussing diet and exercise options.

The worst of my pain right now is due to endometriosis and abdominal adhesions and finding a good gyn has been almost impossible. Plus, they all seem to make you wait 8-10 weeks for your first appointment. Then it turns out almost everything they told me on the phone is a lie. I end up knowing more about my condition and treatment options than they do. They offer me castration or toxic chemicals even though when I interviewed them (before making the first appointment) they said they only use those as a last resort.

The last three that I saw refused to even discuss pain management options until I've had a hysterectomy. One even told me that I am choosing to stay in pain so why should they help me. Why would I let someone operate on me if they won't even discuss my options. I had to stop seeing the gyn that was helping my pain (without narcotics!) when my insurance changed.

So the answer is NO! I am not getting proper care.

I will not give up and have an appointment with another gyn 2 hours away, in April(!).

Make sure you at least get something for the withdrawals. Catapres is what helps me, but some people get a whole bunch of different meds for each symptom. Anyways, I feel for you. My worthless disability insurer hasn't paid me a dime since October. I can't afford my meds at all. I am losing weight (I was already at the bottom of my weight range, now I am below it). They really could give a flying leap whether or not I ever get paid.

I am filing a complaint with my state's Division of Insurance because the claims rep can't even be bothered to return my phone calls. Unfortunately, it takes the Div. of Ins. people 4-6 weeks to investigate and then who knows how long to mediate the situation. Meanwhile, I am post-op with no meds. Not fun at all, but what can be done, right?

Maybe you could see if your state lets you file complaints against worker's comp. Some states do. If not, try looking up to see if you have Call-A-Lawyer or Dial-A-Lawyer programs through one of the Bar Associations in your state. Often they have one morning a month where people can call in for free & get advice. Other than that, just try to make the best of it. You're absolutely right that it seems like people want to put a huge amount of roadblocks in the way of those who want to return to work. All I need is a week or two of bed rest, my meds & a bit of food and I could recover from surgery and very, very likely return to my job. I'm really not sure what the deal is. They just always have a million excuses. I think I finally may have gotten a procedure that worked, but I can't even tell b/c I've had to go through post-op with out of control pain.

I try to explain to these idiots that I had 10 lesions (blisters, really) burned directly on my nerves. You would think that the average person would be able to imagine that that might be somewhat painful, but apparently the minions who work at my LTD insurer think it's a cake walk. You know what their latest claim was?! They are assigning my file to a new case worker. That case worker is going through orientation this week & next and then will need a few weeks to get up to speed on my case so maybe he will be able to look at my claim sometime in February! February! I've gotten no money since October. I think there ought to be angry little leprechauns or something that we can hire to go taunt & torment these insurance people until they pay up on claims -- as a bonus, I would have the leprechauns load up some pot with the insurance money & magically deliver it to those in need. (it's green -- does it kinda look enough like a leprechaun?) Does that sound too bitter? ;)

Oh man these insurance people are nothing but trouble.

Well Guys, i just got in my car, and parked right buy his office window, 3hrs later I see him waving me to come in, he check me over and wrote me my patches. i told him it might be a 60 days, before I get to court, he said we would deal with it

Folks, you got the wires crossed, someone else postedthat there Doctor got closed down by the DEA. My doctor was waiting on a reason to quite treating me, so if this goes to trail, he doesn't have to go. Here is the Story, I went to a Surgeon at KU, 4hrs from my house, I got 2 mins. with him, he said I needed to see a pain spesicalist, so I told my Doc, i din't have a way to get to K.C. with a driver to drive me home, and couldn't afford it. That I wanted to go to Joplin Pain center 32 miles away! W.C. attroney, stops my pay, and says I am now treating my self be cause my doc got me a apoitment at joplin They stopped the appointment 90 days to get to see the Judge, he told her (W.C. Attoney) she was a dumb ass, and i could go to any pain clinic my local doctor wanted me to go to!Takes 3 weeks to get the Court order, I hand deliver the court order to the lady that does the scheduling, 3 weeks later I still don't have a appointment, for a week, before my wife goes to work, she is screaming at me, you need to call over to your Doc to see what going on, after the 6th day of this, I call over to ask what was the hold up, the young gal said that I was to make the appointment, and I said that wasn't my understanding, then see snapped back at me, and said you are on top of the stack, that pissed me, and after 6 1/2 years of 24/7 pain you are never in a good mood any way, so i ask her, what is it, am I to make it or are you, she snapped back and said you are not the only paitencet we have! then i got hot, got the head nurse on the phone 15 mins. I have a appointment. The next day I get a register letter stating that my doctor will no longer see me. i wrote several letters of apoligies and so fourth, the Doctor said, it wasn't his policey it was St. Jihns, and what is done is done. I ask him what i was to do, he told me to start detoxicing off the fentayal, he saw me 2 more months, I notifed my attroney that i was going to have a new doc!With  Kansas W.C. you have to have a hearing to pass gas!! And after it gets put on the docit, it might be 120 days?? My last visit 29 days ago, i was told no go, buy! And I said what about the morphine and he said O, because the pamplet says DON'T JUST STOP TAKING AT ONCE, CAN CAUSE DEATH! So he said no I had to have it that he would see me after work.

So I was out of this med, so  I new he would have to go into his office sometime, and if he shuts me off, it could cost him a big mal practice suite. One big thing, Doc and I used to be real good buddy untill he got remarried to a real nice lady, and so we don't do anything toghter, and he was allways worried because of that, it might cause me problems, but I have 5 surgeons says no go!
