It is not opium that is in short supply. It is oxycodone. The DEA mandates a quota on all controlled substances as required by the CSA(controlled substance act). Unfortunatlly that quota has been reached. If you google "oxycodone shortage," you will find several links that can provide you with more specific information. Some pharmacies still have oxycodone in stock. You may have to call around to all the pharmacies around your area and ask. If you can only get a partial fill, make very clear that they will fill the rest of your prescription when they get them back in stock or call your doc and make sure he will write you a RX for the remaining difference in the amount the pharmacy did'nt have. In case you did'nt know oxycodone is a schedule II(2) narcotic and can not be called in or refiiled. If you have been with this pharmacy for a while you should be in good shape, just make SURE you ask up front. Because if they don't fill the rest of your script in X amount of hours(I think it is 72) in will be void and you will go into withdrawals and thats not good. Hope you can find your meds soon. I can not imagine not being able to get mine!
