I only eat peanut M&M's so I don't have a point of comparison.
On the spelling issue, I actually find that addicts are less likely to spell a drug correctly. I attribute that, at least in part, to the fact that they most often refer to the drugs verbally and by shortened names such as vics, percs, oxys, hydros, etc.
Of course, that has nothing to do with elma44, it's just an observation on my part.
