What if?

 

Do any of us remember what it was like Before we were in pain?  Being able to walk for miles without a break?  Playing with our kids for hours?  Being able to sit through an entire movie without getting up?  It has been soooo long. 

What would you do if you weren't in pain all the time?  I would go on a Cruise to Alaska..go rock climbing, swim with the dolphins... the list is endless...

I'm just starting to be able to do a few things that I used to be able to do, thanks to an RF procedure 8 weeks ago. I walked the 3 blocks roundtrip to the library today! WHOO HOO! Not much compared to the 7 miles a day I used to run, but I have to celebrate small victories, I guess. :)

If I could have everything back, it would be a toss up between going hiking up in Canada around the boundary waters or being able to run the half-marathon race along the lakefront next fall. I think both of those are probably out for good, but I am hoping that maybe I can at least participate in some of the park district dance lessons this summer. We'll have to see.

I would still have my Antiquarian Bookstore, walk for just the fun of it, dance, clean house without sitting down every 8 minutes - among other things.
But I would not want to be without pain for just a couple days - I do not think I could go back to having this much pain without losing my mind.

I'd take my painting seriously and try to sell it.
I'd clean house -- all the little corners.
I'd cook. Not quick things but complicated dishes with LOTS of ingredients.
I'd move back to the ocean and live in a tiny hut.
I'd walk on the beach every morning and every evening.
I'd volunteer to work with little kids who had disabilities.
I'd think about writing a column.
I'd climb in the hills around Montana De Oro.
I'd buy stilletos and just go somewhere and sit a spell.
I'd go to Las Vegas and see the Beatles LOVE
I'd spend two weeks in San Francisco - maybe longer.(I'd walk all over)
I'd get a good camera and shoot all the old valley buildings and ancient churches.
I'd dance and dance and dance.
I'd give my daughter time off and watch her little kids a lot morel.
I'd study interior decorating more and realllllly go to town.
I'd rent a motor home and see if it was fun.
I'd go to Oregon where it's green and rains all the time.
I'd travel to the most boring town in the United States. (I'd walk the streets
and pretend I was in Mayberry. Maybe Mayberry exists?)
I'd live in a different town every year.
I'd dust the base boards.
I'd dance some more.
I'd go to almost every concert.
I plant a flower garden.
I'd plant a vegetable garden.
I'd buy a golden retriever.
Maybe I'd try to write a column again.
I'd take a class in computer graphics.
I'd go out to a good Mexican dinner and have a REAL Marguerita. (None of those
virgin kinds, for me)
I'd go back to Yoga.
I'd entertain and have guests over at least once a week.
I'd always ask people "How are You? And I'd listen.
I'd look even more for the angels in my life. You don't have to look far. You can
find them right here on the forum.
I'd volunteer at the library and read stories to children and do projects with them.
Every morning I'd go out and pick a bouquet. Every room would have flowers.
I'd rent a bus and take all the pain-free people on a cross country trip - all expenses
pay. I'd make sure no one would have to have any pain EVER. We would have no
reason for a forum.We'd all be well.
I'd give money to people if they needed it. I'd just scatter money all over the
place. .

I'd toss out all my medicine.... and run a complete marathon. : )
I'd make Rhonda a big birthday cake. Everyone would bring her a wonderful
gift. I'd give her a Lilac bush.

Ok here is what I would do without my pain.

I would....climb the Big Horns in search of that elusive bull elk.
I would...volunteer to sit with the residents of a nursing home and keep them company for hours.
I would...sit on the banks of a calm lake and catch lots of fish.
I would...go camping with my hubby and not have to worry about the pain.
I would....paint a gorgeous landscape while sitting in a park.
I would....capture many pictures of animals, people and settings with my digital camera.
I would...go back to work as a Legal Secretary.
I would...dance.
I would...fly to WI to see my son.
I would...drive in my car for hours.
I would...shop till I drop.
I would...go antiquing or to garage sales and get those cool bargains.

There is my mini list. I have tons more I would like to do but gee too much to mention. I love going rock hunting and arrowhead hunting but these things take much walking and I can't do that.

My last time I had no pain and could do things......July, 2000.

RUN
Run until my chest burst. Run and feel all my muscles. Run until I was tired. Run and let the problems of the world float away. Run and feel like i'm 2 again. Run into my husbands arms. Run in the forest. Run in the desert. Run in the fields. Run on the beach. Run in my neighborhood. Run and feel free. Run and feel joy. RUN!...

I would read, read, read, just for FUN!
I would actually have a social life at college and not come home every weekend, or sometimes more often for doctor's appointments.
I would be able to drive easily, for as long as I want, wherever I want.
I would get through a whole day without having to take a nap because I am so exhausted from lack of sleep and/or my eyes aren't functioning properly anymore.
I would spend less time sweating the small stuff, and less time worrying.
I would be able to swim competitively again.
I would stop having to worry so much about the future & whether or not I can still have the profession I want.
I would enjoy my family more.

I'd dump all my pills and pill bottles into a big garbage can and then toss them into a big bonfire and have no more pain bottles within site anywhere!!!

I used to walk 6 to 12 miles wish I could do that again.My husband and I would take are kids hiking in grand teton mountains.Some times we would go fly fishing.We would go fishing with worms all the time(there are at lest 20 places within a 5 to 20 min. ride from are house).
