Hi Briny,
I have had many shoulder surgeries, including on my labrum. I don't know if you had labrum surgery on your shoulder or you hip, but either way, you need to get in contact with your surgeon. Getting hit 5 hrs after surgery is not a good thing. Something like that could cause no damage, or it could cause a lot of damage or at least enough to set your recovery back months (believe me, I know). Only your doctor can tell you. You should be able to get ahold of someone on-call at your surgeon's office/hospital, but if not, go to the ER and get checked out. This is nothing to mess with. It is better to find out now, rather than 6 mo down the road when you wonder why things aren't improving, that you re-tore or did some other kind of damage. I also don't think that it is a good thing that you are out walking around in public so soon after surgery. One, your body is probably not recovered from the anesthesia & other medication your received which may still be in your system, so you should really have someone looking after you. And secondly, it is just a bad idea to be around a lot of people for the first 3 or 4 weeks after surgery,
at least until you are out of a sling (if it is your shoulder). People are unpredictable, and as you found out, it only takes one wrong move to cause you problems. I went to a surgeon in the city, I live in the country, but every time I would travel to see him for the first month after every surgery he would make me take a cab rather than walk around the city & I had to wear my sling every time I was in a crowded area for several weeks after I got out of the sling 24/7, because it made him very nervous, being in a crowd & he didn't want me to get hurt from something stupid (even though I did - lets just say, stay away from horses until you are healed completely - they are even more unpredictable, and powerful, that people). The sling at least makes people slightly more aware. Best of luck. I hope you didn't do any damage, but please talk to your surgeon! Tonight!
