Low Pressure Agony

After two weeks of high baro pressure, my neck of the woods has been slipping toward storms for the past several days. Each new day of lower pressure brimgs on my agony. Today it is nearly unbearable pain. Just a deep, dull aching pain that starts in the spine at about L1-2 and radiates in all directions. Now the back muscles are in full spasm trying to protect something they can't protect. Up to my daily limit of oxy and it won't touch it. I hate this. Really hate it. Ice won't even touch this one. Must be a hell of a storm coming to feel this bad. I'll stop complaining because I know there are many of you CPers who are hurting worse than me. Just had to scream a little. I pray for better weather. That always seems to work for me!

You know it wasn't until I started posting here that I realized how much the weather was affecting my pain. It never used to, at least not big time, but since my failed fusion surgery I notice everytime it's cold and damp or just plain cold, the pain increases and like W.B. said that pain seems harder to manage. We have storms here today and it went from 80 degrees to about 60 in a couple of hours. I've got some of those therma care wraps on my shoulder and my soft neck collar on - everything got so stiff. Night time pillow problems didn't help either!

I am sorry to hear that you are in so much pain today! I think all CPer's dread those horrid shifts of weather patterns, and there is just no easy way to avoid them (other than constantly traveling the world on some supersonic jet, dodging storms & other weather patterns. Or maybe living in outer space? But I'm afraid that neither are possible ). So here we are, stuck with these highs and lows, strapped along for the ride. No fun at all! I sure hope that the weather clears soon & you find some relief!! Until then, draw off of our support to keep you going.

Actually, in technical terms the fusion itself was successful. But it was unsuccessful at getting rid of any of my nerve pain in my butt, leg and feet. Kind of what annoys me because it wlll probably go under the heading as "successful" fusion with the surgeon's statistics, but as far as I'm concerned it was anything but.

But probably the more correct term is failed back surgery syndrome. I think it's actually called FBSS.

My bone fused pretty well; surgeon used some new high tech protein substance rather than bone (mine or cadaver). Heaven help me if anything else goes wrong. I've about had it with this body!
