Thinking of PALady!!!

Pete (and everyone who's been so thoughtful!),
Well, I'm home. I'm alive. I'm exhausted. But at least it's over and the news was mostly good. No polyps or problems seen in the colon (I watched it all on the monitor, groggily asking "is that a polyp?" probably every 2 seconds! LOL) and I officially don't need another one for 8-10 years. I'll take the 10, thank you. I wasn't quite as lucky with the endoscopy. There was some inflammation so the doc did take a little tissue to biopsy. I won't know anything for a couple of weeks, but I don't have a sense there's anything serious wrong. Just a heads up to start eating a little more decently again. No more bags of M&M's at bedtime! LOL

It was interesting to note what it felt like to have only about half of my usual pain meds in me. Of course, I was up most of the night back and forth to the "throne", and I finally got a couple of hours of sleep but as soon as I woke up couldn't help but notice the sciatic pain in my butt and down my leg. I didn't take any narcotics late last night or this morning, and as I was lying waiting for the procedure (they were running a little late) my back was really hurting. Yet at the same time I noticed I felt more alert than I had in a long time. More like "me". A heck of a trade off we have, we CPP's. Can't have our cake and eat it, too.

Now we have to watch for fatherjohn and Lindaloo's posts. And there are others but forgive me my brain's not 100%! I'm going to try reading through some posts, but may not be responding to everyone but know I'm thinking of you all!

OMG, Kitty! I sure would never return to that doctor or facility if I could help it. The people who did mine were great with me except for the fact I was left in a lousy position for awhile as I waited for the procedure (before I got the sedation). I could tell they were very "tight" on the sedation, though, and that was actually fine with me. My cousin, who drove me, told me she takes her husband for his every few years and he never remember anything, even though he's awake and talking afterward. I could remember everything. It was more like I felt like I was in a bit of a trance but definitey not unconscious. And the nurse administering the meds into the IV (versad, I think) was giving me one small vile at a time as I counted out loud. And would ask the doctor about the if another vile was needed. But they got it just right in my view. I remember everything, but felt only the most minor of uncomfortable sensations once or twice. Spot on, I think Morgoth says!

Please don't ever let yourself go through that again, Kitty. That was plain ignorant and cruel of them, IMHO!

PAlady, I will never return to that doctor and hospital again as long as I live, I was never treated so horrible in my life. When I first got to my appt, I was almost an hour late cause my aunt had to keep stopping places so I could vomit (which was induced by the preperation and probably anxiety) and the first nurse that I saw that did my IV was very sweet, but she told me she was leaving for the day and another nurse was taking over. My aunt begged the dr and nurse to let her go in with me for the procedure, but they kept telling her no, even though I wanted her there. So after I got to the procedure room, the doctor asked me if I was ready, and I said yea, and next thing I feel is somethign in my bottom and lots and lots of pressure and pain, I felt every twist and turn and I was crying and begging them to stop but they wouldnt, and the nurse grabbed my hands very tight so I wouldnt do anything to get away, they never injected anything into my IV. then afterwards I kept vomiting, and the doctor refused to talk to me cause I wouldnt look at him, BUT I was vomiting.....and then I had to beg for something for the nausea, and they acted like I was begging for narcotics or something. I dont know what their problem was, or if they ever found anything. I know I need to find another GI doctor, but I sort of have a fear of them now, even though I've had some wonderful ones over the years due to all my stomach issues (I was born with my stomach not formed all the way). It's hard to find doctors on medicaid, eventhough we have what seems like thousands of diffrent doctors in my area alone, I have to travel out of town to find one that takes medicaid, makes no sense...

But again, I'm just so happy your doing well, I was thinking all last night hoping you didnt have the same expereince as me.

So glad all went reasonably well for you and I'm so glad it's all over. I had a colonoscopy earlier this year and they are no picnic. I was clean too, so I'm happy about that.

Now for the results of my test. Hopefully I will hear tomorrow. Keep me in your thoughts and I will pray for good outcome from your endo too.

I'm so glad that you are O.K. and the tests are done!  The first couple of endoscopies I had done, I was out like a light and didn't remember a thing, but similar to Hello-Kitty, my last 3 endoscopy's I was 100% awake for and it was horrible.  I tried to tell them as they went to put the thing in my mouth that I was wide awake, but with that kind of sedation, I guess it's common for people to still be able to talk, but they don't remember any of it later, so they didn't believe me and just held me down and shoved a bite guard in my mouth that made it impossible for me to talk.  I kept moaning and groaning, but at the same time I was gagging from the hose they were shoving down my throat.

Each time they told me they needed to do another one, I told them of my previous experience and they assured me that they would not do the test without me being out, and each time it was the same thing again.  I strongly believe that my years of being on pain meds has caused me to have a very high tolerance to the meds they use to sedate you.

I, too, was very concerned about what your experience was going to be like, but I did not want to scare you unneccessarily, so I am so glad that everything went well.  Get some rest and indulge in that bag of  M & M's just one more time, you deserve it!

Shouldnt worry too much about the inflammation.  Everybody has some inflammation or infection somewhere.  You take it easy for a couple of days now and recuperate.  Guess you're glad it's over.  Cheers.

it's hard to type because I'm very woozy and nauseaous todya. Guess I spoke too soon. Felt pretty ok yesterday. Nurse said I should just resume normal pain meds last night so I did. I think it was too much. I feel like I'm having a bad hangover. WB they had to give me two bags of saline before they could get my bp up and release me, but I thought it wasn't too bad.

I don't know. Fatherjohn and I need a bit more time before the party. Sorry.

my cousin knows so I've got someone to call. I think stuff just needs to getout of mysystem.. But how the heck can it with pain meds??
