Update on Chronic Back Pain

It has been a while since i posted last but i will try to explain my current problems. Last time i poasted i was approved for disablity to be reviewed in 3 years in the off chance that i can be rehabilitated. Also i have started going to a Pain Clinic and have had epidural injections and nerve blocks. Not very succseful. I get only a couple of hours of relief before the pain returns . But i am going to continue to get them because they said it will take some time for them to work more better. My first MRI showed Multi Level Degerative Disk Disease. Disk herniations from T2 to T12 impinging on the spinal canal. Bulging disks in the Lumbar and S1 regions as well. I have currently had a new MRI done on June 7th showing i now have disk bulges in the C4-5 C5-6 not touching the cord C6-7 disc protrusion not touching cord but mild central canal stenosis maximal diameter 7.7mm not sure what that means. In the thorasic levels i have small Schmorl'l node herinations from T6 to T11 with mild disk space narrowing. Disk proturisons at T5 to T8 indenting the ventral cord. And a small central disc potrusion at T8-9 indenting the ventral cord. Disc material extending slightly from the disk space level etc by 8mm again not sure what that means and the L2 to S1 minor broad based disk bulges not touching the nerve roots and mild facet osteoarthritis at L4-5 L5-S1. I know this is bad and not sure what is going to happen next. Cannot get into see my Doc until aug 4th. I am scared and in severe pain everyday. I have numbess developing in my left big toe, right leg pain etc. I am sorry this was a very long post but now im all updated LOL. Repsonses are welcome.

Sorry about your chronic back pain - I also have some intense back pain, that I believe is related to a disc or two bulging into my Sciatic Nerve (says Neurologist). It was mentioned to me that my first option of treatment, if what my Doctor suspects is actually the case, would be epidural injections, nerve blocks, and PT. I really hope my MRI comes back relatively benign, but most things would be benign compared to what you have gone through, it sounds! I am so sorry, Twiggy, I hope you feel better whatever the treatment is. I don't know if it's possible for you, but seeking out different specialist and doctor opinions can add a lot to the discussions about your pain, treatment, and origin.

Smoochie, how could you have been denied for disability with your conditions?? How can some doctors be so incompetent and still practice in the medical profession? I am so sorry that happened to you, and I'm glad you reported that PM to the medical board. It is important for the practices of Doctors to be closely monitored, as so many people depend on their advice and opinions with very little intervention from others.

Sorry about your pain know how you feel have crohns disease and between the prednisone and an abusive 1st husband I have had 3 failed back surgery L-4 L-5 L-6 S-1 S-2 I have and extra disc down there I could really use some extra money to pay my medical insurance but I am Murphy's Law Walkng as my doctors say if it can go wrong it will with me I see pain amanagement I am on MS extented releasse 2x a day and MSIR instant release when necessary.....do me a favor if you decide to ever get surgery make sure you go to the right hospital and research the doctor well I wish I would have a friend of mine had trouble with neck and went to Rothman Institute in Phila PA he did great and prasies the docs there and his was done with laser or cyber knife Good Luck hang in there
