sad  Hi guys, I haven't been posting much lately,just been lurking.I have elderly neighbors the most wonderful people on the earth I love them dearly. Well they both have been having many health issues and have needed to call on me several times for help. I don't mind at all doing anything for Bruce and Sarah they are like parents to me we've been neighbors for the past 20 years.  i 'm going to make this short as i don't have much time .Two weeks ago Mr. Bruce was dx with leukemia he had several trips to the hospital and Friday morning he passed on to meet the lord.He leaves behind the most wonderfu woman in the world i love them both dearly and i've beem is lot of pain trying to deal with this. They were married 68 short years and my heart is breaking from the loss of this wonderful man and for  my dear friend Sarah.

I am so sorry that you lost such a dear friend....member of your family.  It's never easy when someone dies and it seems to make us look at our own lives under a microscope.  They are lucky to have had you as a neighbor and friend..

It is always hard to lose a close friend or Loved one! My thoughts and Prayers go out to you, I am sure your friend Sarah will need you more than ever now. I think she is indeed lucky to have you as such a Good caring friend!

Good morning *warm huggs* I am so terribly sorry to hear of your loss. It sounds asthough they are a pivital part of your life. I am glad you can be there for your friend Sarah. I cannot imagine what she is going through.. BUT! i know having you by her side she will be supported and cared for. If there is anything we can do to help, just say the word.

I am truly sorry to read about your friends and neighbors. I am deeply touched by their love and commitment to one another, even though their time together now seems far too short.
My sister was diagnosed with Leukemia a few years ago, and I know how quickly things can go downhill despite everything that is done medically for them.
I hope that Sarah will find comfort in the love that she shared with her beloved.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like it's a bit like losing a parent for you, but then Sarah will have her "daughter" close by and you can try to comfort eachother. Still, after 68 years, it will be a challenge for her. But as one who has lived far too many years alone, to have had 68 years with someone would have been a magnificent blessing. I know that it would be excruciating to lose someone like that in my life, but I hope she can take comfort in a marriage and life that sounds like they've been well-lived.

Still, there will be much pain.

Thank you all for your well wishes. Things will never be the same here as Mr. Bruce always seemed to be outside everyday when i'd arrive home from work. I went and sat with Sarah and her daughter yesterday after work. Sarah is doing ok it's going to be very hard for her and i know it will take time. Sarah is looking forward to the day she can be reunited with her darling Bruce. I had some disturbing news yesterday let me start here the neighbor on the other side of Bruce and Sara just recently brought in a live in girl friend. Well this girl seems to have quite a reputation and the past month with while Bruce and Sara were in and out of the hospital Tammy the girl next door made herself very useful and just was always there doing something like cleaning cooking you'd of thought she had been living next to them all her life. She'd go on about how much she loved them now mind you she had only been there a couple of months.This girl has alot of problems and i know for a fact she drinkd daily and has a drinking problem she looks rough you can tell she's lived a rough life. Yesterday Sarah's daughter was going thru har dads meds was going to throw them out well looks like 60 pills of his pain meds are missing so Sarah and her daughter started going thru Sarah's drawers and besides the pain meds that are missing so are two of sarah's watches and a perl necklas. Oh this makes me sooooo mad and is very upsetting Sarah dosen't need all this additional stress in her life. He daughter confronted the neighbor and of course she denied it and tried to cast the blame else where. But she did ask Joyce if she were going to call the police and joyce told her yes soon as she goes theu everything and see's what all is missing.My god why are there people that would do such a thing as this. I pray joyce can get this strightned out and if the neighbor stoled these items it will be found out for sure some how.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I know it's rough for the one left behind when one of an older couple leaves. I'm also appalled that someone would take advantage of a Lady in Sarah's time of need but unfortunately, I'm not suprised! I thing that our society has hit an all time low in the way people treat each other. There are so many lowlifes out there just looking to cash in on someone else's misfortune. It's sickening! I hope they catch the person who stole from Sarah, it sounds like this girl is probably the one. Please let the police handle it, you don't need to get involved w/ pointing fingers right now. I'm sure that everyone involved will keep an eye on this girl when she's around now but there is no need to push any of her buttons at this point, who knows what she is capable off> right? My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Sarah and her daughter. I hope my advice didn't offend you in anyway, if I did, I'm truely sorry. I've seen an awful lot of very bad people in my life and know what they are capable off.

Oh, what a double blow for Sarah! To lose things right now that may be not only valuable from a monetary standpoint, but an emotional one on top of losing her husband....well, the good thing is she has a neighbor like you on the other side.

I'm glad she has a daughter and that they've already found things missing, so that they at least can keep all the remaining medications and valuables locked away. Just what Sarah needs right now, right? I would hope they don't wait too long to call the police, as this may scare the girl into staying away. If they don't call the police, she may think she can keep getting away with it. And you don't know what friends she has either. I don't want to scare you either, but maybe if there are any other neighbors you TRUST you can all help organize to keep an eye out for Sarah. Maybe her daughter can move in for awhile?

In the meantime, be sure to keep YOUR meds and valuables locked away. This woman could get angry at anyone. But again, the presence of a police officer at her door even asking questions may make her take a step back, especially if she has any kind of previous record.

For your sake, keeping remembering the serenity prayer and that you can only do so much. I'm sure Sarah and her daughter appreciate your support and love more than anything right now.

And take care of yourself.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend. It sounds like you yourself are a great friend and neighbor. As for the girl you mentioned - that is absolutley despicable. It never fails to amaze me how low some people will go. It reminded me of an article I read the other day. A family had lost their son and while they were attending his viewing, someone burglarized their home. The funeral/viewing notice had been in the local paper, and apparently these sub-humans saw it, knew there would be no one in the home, and robbed it. I truly hope that this girl gets what she deserves. In the meantime, try to take care of yourself and be there for Sara.

Awe aunt Kay, first you have my sympathies on Bruce.
and get Sarah some new locks for her doors..sure would be nice
that we could trust people, like in the 50's, everyone had unlocked houses..
Keep us posted and I sure hope your friend Sarah can get her stuff back...

My husband is a police officer and he told me to pass along to make certain that Sarah and her daughter file a police report . They don't have to know all that is missing, it can be added as they discover anything else missing. The drugs, I am guessing are long gone, but the jewlery may be found much easier if there is a pawn shop or something similar in your area. The faster they are alerted about the missing jewlery, the better the chance of getting it back. Also, there are lots of jewlers that are buying gold now, so if anything like that is missing, you can also call the jewlers and ask them to get in touch with you if anything comes in that matches the descriptions of Sarah's missing items.
Bless her, that poor woman does not need to deal with this.
I'm truly sorry that you all are having to deal with this, but please make sure that the police report is filed as soon as possible.
If she took the jewlery, she is either going to hide it , or trade it, or sell it......and soon.

I would like to add my sympathies for you and your neighbors. I have learned very quickly that at times when it rains, it pours. I can promise you though that the sun breaks through as well. and from the responses that have been made to this thread, I have a feeling the sun is breaking through just a bit. There will always be those that take advantage of others, and I agree with those that have urged you to help them press the issue. Those like your neighbors girlfriend that would do this sort of thing are usually just as desparate for an outlet of support to help them with their issues as we are, so hopefully she can find a message board to help her with her addictions.

Send our best wishes to your neighbor and her family for me, and I hope that htere areless pain days ahead for all.

Hi Guys, and thanks again for all your support and advice. I just wanted to let everyone know that Sara's daughter will be filling that police report today. I was told yesterday that another necklas was discovered missing. I sure hope the person thats done this will have to pay a high price for her deeds.Sara had a very rough day yesterday and my heart aches for her so keep us all in your prayers.
