Well, I saw the dermatologist this morning and he was fabulous. Its a shame he is retiring in 4 years. I have psoriasis of the palms and soles. I am being referred to the guru of this particular problem for treatment. He told me this guy puts his patients on the drug that can potentially kill you, make you sign a stack of release forms about the drugs and rattled some names off that is used. He said he was just too old to get involved with drugs of that nature lol.So, I should hear something soon from their office. He asked me how in the world I had tolerated this mess as long as I have. Anyway, just wanted to share the new info.

Well, it sounds like a good news/bad news thing. Good that you have an answer and possible solution, not so good to add another diagnosis and more meds to your life.

But I hope it works out for you and that the medications you need won't be as bad as they've been made to sound. Maybe more like what WB is describing.

Hi Susie, I know from the RA site that a lot of the biological agents that are now used to treat RA also clear up psoriasis. I'm on humira but there's quite a few different meds these days and many people with Psoriatic Arthritis find it clears up both conditions. The main down side to them is they lower your immunity to infection so you have to get anti biotics at the first sign of infection symptoms. I'm assuming this is what will be offered to you, very expensive drug but brilliant. Good luck, golitho

Take heart, there's a lot of treatments for psoriasis. Bio agents are good for it, but you may also need something that's more localized treatment. There's a million things that can be done from light treatments, to steroidal creams. I've lived with psoriasis since I went through puberty. I've found some things that work great for me and others that don't. The only thing that I haven't tried yet are the bio agents. Those are next if I can't get it back under control. Just keep in mind that there are options.

WhiteBeard no, I have not ever heard of that cream but have written it down to discuss with the 2nd new dr. The derm did give me a script for an ointment to try. He said it most likely would not work well since the Clobetasol didn't but worth a try. I like it because it will help moisturize so to speak. Like after a shower is the best time to put it on my feet because the skin has large thick scaley areas and he said the ointments work better versus a cream. The skin on the sides of my feet is extemely thick & hard and as well as on some places on the toes and soles. This is what happens after the blisters form. I was surprised its considered an auto-immune disease. I have done some reading about different types of treatment and there are lot of options. Its like anything else medically speaking, you have to find what works the best for you. I laid my Humira shot out today to get get at room temp and plan to start back on it. Wouldn't it be great if I could get it under controll with it since I already take it for crohns.But, I just need to be able to stay on it consistently and not have to keep stopping because of an infection. I was not aware drs make you sign releases if they rx drugs like, Remicade, & Humira, they are TNF blockers, I have never had to sign a release.I had a 3 month supply delivered Friday.
