I hate days like this!!!  Woke up at 2:30am with my left leg screaming at me and my right knee doing the same thing.  I don't know what I did to my knee but I've been getting sharp, take your breath away pain on either side of my knee and behind the knee.  It hits when I get up and after I have walked around for awhile.  But sometimes it just springs on me without any reason.

I had four surgeries many many years ago (1989 was the last one) for a dislocating patella and for some reason my right knee just hasn't been right since.  So hubby told me to get into the doctor to see what is going on with it and since it is a long weekend I won't be able to make an appt. until Tuesday.  I ca wait until then to get into a doc but this pain is really driving me nuts, mostly because I don't know where it came from.

Anyway...just had to vent a bit.  Hugsss and thanks for listening to me.

i'm praying you will get some relief. when you don't get enough sleep, it just messes up your entire day, doesn't it?

i hope that the doctors can give you some kind of diagnosis.

Sure hope you can find out soon, on whats going on with you knee...
maybe ask for both a hip and knee MRI's...
in the meanwhile i hope you can catch a low pain day!

   Dear Scarred,

 

     Good morning *huggs* I am so sorry your knee is acting up. I cannot imagine how worrysome it must be. I have learned to appreciate the pain that I know why they are there. With "new" pains, my first thought , is *great how much will this cost?* Awfull no? I hope that they can work you in as soon as possible! If you can, try to take it easy.

Make sure you take it easy until you can get in to see the doctor. The only "R.I.C.E." routine might help a bit - rest, ice, compression, elevation (although I don't know if you should put any kind of compression bandage on it until a doc sees it).

When I hurt my knee the PT told me that they have found out most knee pain comes from a weak hip. Usually the muscles are weak and don't keep things aligned properly. They had me do a couple exercises that strengthen the hip and it really helped with the knee pain. It did take a few weeks though. And they still had to clean out all the torn cartilage in my knee first, but that's another story. Anyway, Hope you can get some relief until you get to your doctor. PaLAdy's game plan should help some also.
