Here I go again.

I woke up this morning to a foot and leg throbbing with pain, very swollen & red hot. I think this is the most pain I have ever experienced with cellulitis. Its nearly impossible to do any weight bearing on the foot, of course shoes are out of question with a foot like this. I called the PCP's office and was seen in less than two hours. So, after a shot of Rocephin and starting oral antibiotics we will see what tomorrow brings. If no better then on to IV antibiotics. I made it very clear I was not intersted in waiting 10 days only to find I am no better off and then starting the IV meds. He agreed

The nurse looked at my chart and said you know you were here one month ago being treated for the same thing, and the month before that and that. I said yes I know and it is getting very tiring to keep coming here every month with the same old thing.

I am off to bed to get this foot and leg elevated. Waiting on Ibuprophen to kick in and may be give me a little relief. I will be hit & miss here at the forum for a few days, its murder sitting here with the leg down.

I am sending you big hugs too Susie. I really do wish that I could do something for you. I've had cellulitis in the past and it is painful and difficult to treat. I wish that your doctor was a bit more proactive when it comes to you treating this.
If there is anything that I can do, please let me know. Sometimes being on the forum like this makes one feel rather powerless.

Argh, that leg of yours! Why isn't it listening to you?! Stop hurting poor Susie!

Hopefully the antibiotics will clear things up, and quickly! (((((((((((Susie))))))))))))).

I had cellulitis on my belly a few weeks ago, it is very painful. I sure hope you feel better soon.

      I am very sorry that it is happening again. It doesnt seem to ever be easing up or slowing down on bit!! And gosh, I dont know if that nurse was being rude or not, but gosh I would have had a hard time holding my tongue. Reminds me of the time that new nurse over at my primary cares office said "how tall are you?" I said," I dont know now." She tells me,"Look at your drivers license." ......... and of course later when I got home I did, and cried, of course. Sheesh. What we REALLY need is to have white beard teaching nursing students in "Bedside manners 101". if they dont pass the class they cannot pratice medicine!

 

     I really hope the shot of Rocephin helps to ease the pressure and pain. I know it must have been hard to sit at the computer and give us an update, but, if you can, let us know how you are doing. In our hearts and prayers here in new mexico.

Thanks for the support gang it means alot and goes a very long way. Its as I said it would be, no the shot and the orals are not enough. Today, I start IV antibiotics, one more time. I will do another round of 8 days of IV Rocephin, another round of my gut being in uproar and praying UC does not rear its ugly head because of the antibiotics, White Beard knows about this and all the lovely extra things we deal with, another round of stopping Humira because of infection. Its never ending I have decided just like CP. I give up, I can't win this battle. I am tired of fighting battles I can't win.

Oh my Susie! This has been a bad year already for you, hasn't it?! I hate to see my friends in pain and I wish that it would go away so that you could rest easy. I think this is what my husband has because his foot does the same thing. But getting him to go to the doctor is a feat in futility!! I do hope that you feel better soon hun and hurry back to us cause we miss you!

Susie can't they leave you on a low dose of anti biotics once this current bout has cleared up? I was getting bronchitis all the time a few years back and thats what they did for me for a year until I got myself fitter and fully recovered, as well as my asthma under better control.

It would make sense to me, you poor old sweetie, that leg and foot of yours gives you so much grief.

Best healing wishes going your way, can they give you a stronger anti biotic or a combination to completely heal it? Sounds like its not completely healing to recur so often? I know I'm not a doctor but common sense tells me that this isn't right.

Hey Char thank you for the wishes. No on long term antibiotics for me. I also have ulcerative colitis and most antibiotics can trigger flare ups so they are not good for me at all. I have a open sore on the bottom of my foot that keeps the cellulitis active, the sore is from psoriasis. Been on every cream, salve, ointment you name it. Now on pills but it takes 3 months to see improvement. It just stinks, battle one problem, create another one.
