Fentanyl reaction

Hey all. I got put in the 25/hour dose last week, and am now on my second patch. Anytime my stomach gets empty I'm getting sick to my stomach, but hey that's just a good excuse to eat more. I amm, however a little worried. I put my second patch on yesterday at 3 in the afternoon. By 10, I was uncomfortably warm, to the point where I changed clothes. My heart was racing, and I was jittery, like I'd just downed three cans of Mt Dew. I'm really reasly worried, beacsw this is the first med we have found that actually works. It cuts my baseline to a 3/10, and I haven't been there in a LONG time. Should I just try to stick it out, see if after a few more cycles it goes away? I called my pharmacist and yhey said to call my doctor, but I'm in New York packing up my stuff, and we drive back this weekend so I won't be able to get in to my doctor until Monday. Any advice?

I would agree with skeye. At least ask to talk to the doc. Let the receptionist know that you are out of town and need advice before continuing. Or maybe the nurse would talk to you but one way or the other if you want some peace of mind he's the one to talk to.

did you go in the hot tub or take a real hot shower? how often are you changing the patch?

The nausea side effect should lessen as your body adjusts to the fentanyl. If not, there are a couple of options, he can reduce the amount of the patch dosage to 12.5, and let your body adjust to that dose and then slowly increase it to the 25mcg/hr patch. Or he can prescribe some phenerghan or similar type of medication to help with the nausea. I had a similar problem on Opana and had to take phenerghan with each dose, in order to be able to keep the nausea down.

 I am a little confused on your dosage? I was on the fent patch for 16 months, and none of mine was by the hour, it was 3 days, I started at 25mg and ended on the 100mg. Everyone has a different case, but I try and warn everyone that Fentanyl patch should be the last straw!! The low dose didn't do anything and the 100mg patch was good for 2 days but didn't help the pain on the third day. When I was on the 100mg patch my wife, my brother, my father, and my best friend, all wanted to have me put away!! I don't remember much about the 16 months I was on it! I hate that!!!

This is just my thoughts, if you have any other pain meds you can take, I think you would be better off!

One more thing, my Drugest realy tried to talk me out of going on the patch (Wished I would of Listen to him)!!!
