Hi Mike,
I noticed your first few posts nestled in among some of the recent threads. It is customary to start an introduction thread when you first join, otherwise your posts may get lost amongst others & this way we know that there is a new member who we need to welcome!
I want to wish you a warm welcome to HW! As you've already begun to notice, this is a fantastic place. Everyone here is so supportive and compassionate. Where else can you find a great group of people who understand, I mean really understand your struggle with pain? We hate to see you here because that means that pain is destroying one more person's live, but we're very happy to welcome you to our little family.
Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself & your pain?
To briefly introduce myself, I suffer pretty severe chronic eye pain & a host of other rare neurologic & visual problems which originated from an eye injury I sustained just over 3 years ago. I've been through just about every medication out there, but I seem to have a very unusual biochemistry because most medications don't work at all for me (not just pain meds). I'm currently in the process of fighting my insurance to have a neurostimulator device implanted on some of my cranial nerves. I'm desperate for relief, especially since I'm trying to make it through my final semester of college & my doctors believe this surgery to be my last and best hope for relief until medicine evolves or they learn more about my condition.
Again, Welcome to the family! I'm sure others will be by later to add their greetings!
hugs,
Skeye
