Hi, Pam.
Japanese Mint oil is just something I found at the health food store, and is just straight mint oil without any other additives. It is quite potent, but very soothing. I will sometimes add a few drops to my bath water, or I will apply it directly to any area of my body that is hurting. It has a quick, and cooling effect. A bottle of it will last a long time, and is relatively inexpensive, at around $20 (CAN).
You will not want to apply it if you are on your way out, as you will smell like a candy cane. The smell is not medicinal, though, like some of the creams you might find at a pharmacy. It actually smells nice, if you like the smell of mint.
I highly recommend giving it a try, as I always find it helpful.
