Hydrangea, I have to totally agree with PaLady here, in that your fusion is just barley getting started. My surgeon says it takes 3 to 5 months for the fusion to start and at least 12 months for it to fully heal.
He really told me to throw out the 12 month theory, and to use it as the bare minimum for a full fusion.
As far as the motorcycle, he told me it would be 12 months before he would let me back on it. It's not that the ride is hard, but it's the bumps that you may or will encounter on the ride.
I like you, do not want another fusion anytime soon, so Please listen to your Dr, and the other members here, and do not get on that bike.
I did get on mine the other day just to park it in the garage, but that is very different from ridding it around town.
Again, I want to make sure that you understand, that it would not be a wise thing to do, and it is really taking a risk. I don't think you would have asked the question, if you already know in your mind that it is risky.
I don't mean to sound bossy on this, but I would hate to see you jeopardize what the surgeon has fixed.
I'm going to show my ignorance here, and ask PaLAdy the difference between the aspirin, and ibuprofen, and Tylenol and such. Is it OK to take these? ...or am I doing something I should not be doing?
I certainly do not want to go through the fusion surgery again. Ever! :(
I also went to my place of employment today to get all the paperwork out of the way before my return on Monday. The men in the shop warmly greeted me back, and my boss said he had a desk job lined up for me,
that would last several weeks. I did not realize that my director also had a fusion a few years ago, and I bumped into him today while there. We both had war stories to tell about it :) I think he had something to do
with finding me a suitable job when I came back to work. He is a good friend of mine, and I have even photographed his daughters Senior photos two years ago.
Hydrangea, I really wish you the best and hope you heed the advise given here. We only do so because we care :)
