Hi Char,

Thanks!! I've been really busy this week as they had a lot of things going on on campus for senior week. I officially moved back home today, but I will be back on campus Saturday for Phi Beta Kappa induction & Sunday for graduation. It feels strange to be all moved out & know I'm not going back, but at the same time it still doesn't seem real.

I did really well this semester & overall; I really couldn't be happier. I got one B and the rest were A- or above. My final gpa for all four years is 3.824, so I will be graduating with both honors in general study & honors in my major (biology). I also got the most prestigious senior biology award & I found out yesterday that I made Phi Beta Kappa, which is a huge honor, as only 20/600 seniors were selected! Looking back I'm really shocked at how well I did despite all my pain & visual problems. I definitely couldn't have done it without all the support of everyone here!

I spoke with the neurosurgeon's office today & everything is all set for next Friday & the following Friday. I'm really looking forward to my stimulator trial. I can't say that I've every "looked forward" to a surgery before, but this one really has the potential to make a huge difference for me pain wise so any minor surgical pain is well worth it. I really hope it helps. I've got a good feeling about it though :-).

I'm glad to hear that your daughter had a great semester as well! Making it through year one of college is a big accomplishment! You should be very proud of her!

Oh Skeye...I am praying for you and crossing everything I have, that everything works out perfectly for you!!! You've had an amazing year from the sound of things, so this is one more good thing you'll get to talk about.

WOO HOO!!!! Phi Beta, a superb GPA and prestigious biology award! YOU GO GIRL - no, come to think of it, you already WENT! And to do that with all your challenges, you deserve an extra award for perseverance and courage. I hope you're proud of yourself. I'm proud of you, and I'll bet your parents are, too. Deservedly so!

Now let's hope for a "4.0" on the stim trial, but for now enjoy your graduation week!

You make me proud to know you skeye!!!!, You also give me hope for all the younger people coming up. You have accomplished a great deal under very adverse conditions! That is quite an accomplishment and You should be proud of yourself! I know that I am!!! ( like the rest of the people here that have posted)I am extremely proud of YOU! The future is all yours and you have shown that you have what it takes to be successful in what ever you endeavor! Your next big challenge, is that stimulator trial, I do hope that it is the answer to your problems, and it meets all your expectations! I don't want to dampen your hopes for this, but please remember, that this thing might need some tweaking done, and some adjustments on your part to get this thing to work as well as you want. So please don't get discouraged if it is not the magic cure all, for you right away! Don't forget we are always here for you, through thick and thin, on this journey with Chronic Pain!

   Oh wow! Congratulations! Youve done a great job and I am so glad everyone else noticed and recognized you for all your hard work! I hope you have a good time enjoying all your senior activities!

 

    Oh only a little while longer for your procedure! I didnt realize it was so soon after your graduation! I really hope it helps. It would be awesome to start out your new career without pain! Try to take it easy during your end of the year activities thou. You don't want to over do it!

Thank you everyone for your congratulations & kind words! You all were a huge part of my success! Coming here has helped me to find and maintain the strength that I needed to get through. I couldn't have done this without each & every one of you!

whoo hoo!!! I am so proud. To do so well while in such pain...you are our hero. As i watched my own daughter graduate last Sunday I thought of you knowing you would be walking this week. You go girl!!!
Tell me again which stilulmator it is you're getting? supraorbital? The entire trial implant for me took less than an hour. You'll be in and out in no time. It'll be a breeze. Just takes a bit to get used to having the wires hanging out of your head for the trial but it will be worth it.
Enjoy your honors today and let us know how the surgery goes next friday.

Well, I'm now officially graduated! I have a BS in biology & was 53rd in my class of ~600! The ceremony itself was really nice. It still hasn't sunk in that I've graduated though. I think it might take a while. Thanks again for all of your support! You guys have been fabulous!

I have my pre-op physical tomorrow & the stimulator trial will begin on Friday (as of now I have to be at the hospital 1 1/2 hrs away at 6 am, ugh). As far as I know, they'll be placing electrodes on the supraorbital & infraorbital branches of the trigeminal nerve.

WHOPPEE!!! That's wonderful, Skeye, and 53rd out of 600 is great! Amazing job with all you've had to manage!

I hate those early arrival times too, although the only good thing is that often you're the first or second patient and don't get stuck waiting as long if something goes awry with someone else. We'll all be waiting to hear how it goes!

Relax a bit and enjoy your accomplishments!
