White Beard, you give so much confidence in having the VA do this. They told me that they just recently started doing the whole colon here and they are trying to run as many of us through as they can. My wife is not able to get the day off so I will have my son take me. It is just short of 2 hours one way. The VA is always an experience.
PAlady, they are worried about how much it will take to sedate me. They were contemplating a general anesth. but that would have required them using an operationg room and then the costs go up. He told me what he was going to use and he said it is more than he normally uses but thinks it will work. Me too.
Susie, TMJ, Chart and Retiredmom, they spent extra time explaining to me the joys of the prep. Why he decised two day of prep is unknown to me except he really wants me cleaned out but from what I hear, the normal one day is more than desired. They are concerned with my meds being washed through me as well and decided that if necessary, I will just have to live a day or two in more pain than normal. They mailed me my prep supplies and have called me twice to double check that I understand the instructions and what I am to do two days before, the day before and the morning of. I am not scheduled until 1:30 PM. And they wonder why my blood pressure is so high. What scares me the most is having all three insurance or responsible parties involved, the chances of something getting messed up increases. MY PCP has justified my BP issues being connected to work comp but with the VA not going through with the colonoscopy until it is documented that the BP is being addressed by the PCP tends to mix the pot. Anyway, it will all be over next week.
