 Hello everyone, my pain began in 1983 with an injury at work and I have been dealing with chronic pain sence then. As the years gone by it has gotten worse the last three year the pain has gotten out of control and the last year the pain is getting unbearable. I have osteoarthritis in both hands, Fibro ( I just found out about) bursits in both hips, bone spurs in both thumbs, and spine, I have nerve damage at C6, C7, L4, L5, S1 and both feet, C5,C6 is ruptuerd on to the spine,osteoarthritis in both hand, arthritis in my back & neck ,plus many other medical issues. sad

 I have just fired my pain Dr. She refused to work with me on my meds., all they want to do is the shots, and I have enough nerve damage with out them wanting to do more. They almot lost me my disablty, her own note are condercting each other, she failed to tell me I had fibro, I had to leard it thru my arthritis Dr. The pain Dr. wanted to up the Lyirca after I told her it tore up my stomace, her remedy was to up my prolect. At the higher dose and upping the priloct it tore up my stomace. At the lower dose of Lyirca it worked great on my feet and some on my spine.  I can not take any anit flmortory as they cause every joint to swell and hurt for days. I found a new MD that is going to work with me (I hope) after she gets all the medical reports.

I have found so much information from this board, I am glad to find it.

I am getting so fustrated right now to add to this pain I had surgery in May for a belly button herina repaired and it came back bigger and hurts worse, I am going to have another surgery. But I can not do alot of things any more because of the pain. I am a very out going person and very hard to keep down, but now I wake up in 10 pain level and takes at least 1-3 hour to calm down for the day. The by bed time I am hurting bad. I take a strong sleeping pill ( Seroquel 200mg to 400mg) depending on the pain and what my bipolor is doing. I new to the fibro but that explanes alot of what I go thru, so here I go researching it out.

Glad you posted. Welcome to the board. But I'm sorry for all you are going through, really. I have a wide variety of medical issues and pain issues, too - as do many of us here. It makes navigating through this thing called LIFE very difficult at times. But I'm glad you found your way here... there's so many supportive people here that truly understand what it's like to live w/ these issues.

I'm glad you got rid of the doctor that wasn't working for you - it sounds like she definitely wasn't listening to your needs. I hope this new doctor will work w/ you and get you on a good treatment plan. Is it a pain management doctor? Just wondering... It's just so important to have a good doctor that listens...

There's also a "fibro" board here at HW, too; many people post on both. I have fibro as well.

Well, I hope you'll keep posting and hope to get to know you better. Take care of yourself; and, again, welcome.

Welcome to the CHronic Pain forum here at Healing Well. I am glad you joined and posted with your introduction. I was sorry to read all the pain you are going through. I you continue to post and let us know how things are going.

Hi Butterflyrose!

What a beautiful name! I'm so sorry that these medical professionals are putting you through misery. There is no excuse for them increasing medications that are causing you damaging side effects. Injections work for some but if they aren't willing to use a wide array of options then they certainly do need to be fired. If I take a new medication that makes me feel awful I stop it immediately. I know my own body and know what's causing problems. No way am I going to continue to take something I know is causing more problems than it helps.

Consider going to a university/teaching hospital and getting an appointment with one of their doctors. In the CP 101 thread at the top of the page is a list of these facilities around the world. It might be a long or short drive for you but at least they are going to use everything available to get your problems under control and often things that this pain specialist has never heard of. Some of those folks need to get out from under their rock and work for the Patients! and not their selfish egos.

Ya, this topic touches a nerve with me...lol Sorry about that. But it's wrong for you to be mistreated and disrespected. You need and deserve some honest care.

Welcome butterflyrose ! So very glad you introduced yourself and joined our family ! Please feel free to come here and post anytime , there are wonderful folks here and you will be supported and advised from the heart , I hope your pain subsides soon and you feel better . Do you eat healthy Rose ? It can help a lot , what you put in your body has a direct corralation to how you feel and how your body heals . Hoping you feel better soon , Mikel

Hello Butterflyrose and welcome. As the others have said, you've come to a great place for support and information. Most of us have multiple health issues we deal with, so we can certainly understand what you're feeling and where you're coming from.

I'm sorry your first pain doctor wasn't willing to work with you, and I hope the new doctor turns out to be real team player. It can take time to find the right meds or treatments that will work for you, and we're all different, so stuff I've tried might be different than you, but we can learn from each other.

Good luck with your new doctor - I hope they find something that will ease your pain and allow you to sleep well.

Hello and so sorry about your pain, and I hope the surgery will help,
for fibro pain a moist heating pad or hot shower or hot bath can help..
but I think the anxiety about this surgery is making your pain worse for now..
maybe look into mediation or relaxation techs.. for that...
Hope you can get a low pain day soon...

    I am so sorry you have been in such severe pain for so long. That is a long time to have multiple painful chronic conditions. Most of all, I hate hearing what your doctor did to you. I really hope you are able to get in with someone who you are both comfortable with, but can also agree on a treatment palnn with. It is so important to have someone who truly listens to your needs. It seems these days that good, knowladgable doctors are few and far between.

 

     It was oh so good to meet you. I hope you can find a few moments to rest tonight. Take care and know you are in our hearts.
