Helo Hydrangea,

 

I saw your post to SE and wanted to start a different thread for you so others would see what you have on your plate at the present time. I see you are sscheduled for an eppie next week, I sure hope that goes well and gives you some relief.

 

I believe the last time you posted your PM dr wanted to look at your MRI's again because your surgeon did not think the level above surgery was all that bad or nothing wrong at all. What did your PM dr have to say after seeing the MRI? I am sorry that the first surgery did not take care of your problem. All too many times these surgeons will leave a level alone above where they are doing surgery thinking even though there is a problem its not bad enough, then bam, the pressure and stress of the lower disc finishes off the one above. Then the patient ends up back in surgery having a fusion. Its kind of like, gee if you would have done it right the first time I would not here now. I have lost count of how many times I have seen this happen. Ultimately, its the patient that pays the price for this. Meaning more surgery and down time. Makes you wonder if this is something that they do to make more money off of the patients or what. Payment for two surgeries is not bad money for a few hours of work.

 

I am sure the other will pop and say hello and to check on you. Please keep us posted on how you do after your eppie.

    I saw her logged in here late last night, but she must not have seen the new post.

Um, maybe she has had her eppie and not feeling so good, I hope she is ok.

StrayDog and Screaming Eagle.......Thank Thank you for checking in on me. Yes I was on the other night and posted a reply but got bumped off my computer, so it is obvious that it did not post.

I did have my epidural on Monday evening. The PM doctor was a little to happy to see me. As you know he did think I should of had a double fusion, and the surgeon only recommended a one level. Long story short......I do sometimes think that they are all in it together. PM Dr. does his thing, Epidurals. Discograms, MRIs, DRUGS, DRUGS, DRUGS. Send you to the Surgeon....Surgery, Milograms (Yikes) , Physical therapy....... and then Bamb back to the PM Doctor to start the circle all over again. I was so apprehensive about my epdiral since he was doing a two level transforaminal, they gave me a Valium which did help just a tad.

My husband came with and asked so many questions. We have decided to take all my scans, test, and record for a second opinion. It just makes me wonder if my MRI now shows severe stenosis on top of the herniation in l4 l5 why are we just treating that level now???
So far no real pain relief from the procedure but I know it can take a couple of days. Sever pain and foot problems last night. He did put me on Vitamin B? for neuropathy in feet....Stray dog do you take this?

Any way, that is were we are right now.......Good news hopefully my boot will come of from my fractured foot....... bad news............Feel like I am going into a crohns flair, Gastro Dr. Put me on 60 mg of prednosione yesterday. I am hoping it will help with inflammation in my back. (DEVIL DRUG) Just can;t wait for the moon face to appear!!!

I can not tell you both how much I appreciated you caring!!!!!! Hope all is good with both of you!!! I will try to be on more often to check on everyone. I seem to get myself in such a pity pool sometimes, and it is hard to get out. So again , thank you for everything.

     Good morning Hydrangea!

      Good to see that you made it back here. I'm sure you already know this, but look into getting the follow up Epidural if you can. They probably wont touch you untill the two week mark, but it may be worth looking into. Sometimes it takes the second one before it will kick in.

      I'm so sorry to hear about your broken foot. I cannot imagine having this on top of the fusion surgery. Are you still working as well? My pain is much better, and at times it is gone, but then again I still have days that is comes back. Today, is one of those days :(

     It's quite alright to take some time away from the forum, but we get worried about members here. I was a nut case for a while during my early recovery. I just wanted to crawl in a hole and hide for a while.

     We all handle things differently, and especially pain. I need a pill for a mosquito bite! :)

Hi Hydrangea,

 

I am very happy to hear that you are going for an unabiased a second opinion and maybe a third opinion too if you feel it is necessary. You can never be too cautious when it comes to surgery. Many people do get the 3rd opinions and I would do the same. It will be interesting to see what a new dr thinks of the two MRI's. I sure do understand your feelings towards these drs in how it makes you wonder at times are they in all of this together. Lets face it, its a very lucrative business for both.

 

I hope the eppie gives you some relief but my PM dr does not believe in them and one of my others didn't either. They just said it was a way to pad the bills and since they did not cure any problems what was the point of putting a patient thru that when they were already in pain. Honest, this came straight from the horses mouth.

 

Oh no, the last thing you need is a crohns flare up. I am having trouble as well, and this is not the time of year that mine normally flares. I don't do steroids as I cannot tolerate them. I just keep my fingers crossed all flares are short lived and the Humira wins out in the end, lol.

 

Please keep us posted on how you are doing and remember everyone is entitled to pity parties as long as we are all invited, lol. Take care.
