I just got a text from Mikel.  He's doing well right now and they have him scheduled for surgery around 3 pm EST this afternoon.  I'll keep you posted as I get information from Mikel or more probably Jessica.  Thanks for all the kind words you guys are sending out for him. He is a real gem and is loved by us all!

Hi HW Family,

When I got the text from Mikel this morning, he said he'd have someone call me after the surgery.  I later got a text that the surgery wasn't going to be a go until 3:00pm EST.  I haven't heard back yet, but I just texted to see if I could get some type of update.  I'm hoping he's going to pop in here on his own as he will have access to a laptop during the hospital stay. No news is good news! I know we are all pulling for him and love him dearly! He's a great guy and I believe he has blessed each of us personally at one point or another....that's just the kind of guy he is!

I'm hoping to see Mikel typing in on his own post at any time now. I haven't heard from anyone about him and I have contacted the people on his end to see what's going on, but I can't reach anyone. If you know Mikel, you know he's a fighter and so I'm feeling good about the surgery, but dog gone it! I wish someone would call and let us know! Well, I suspect in the next few hours to hear from my dear Brother by morning! That's all I know. Again, no news is good news, right?

As I said last night, I texted and didn't get a reply of any kind. I too hope someone calls soon and I have to believe no news is good news because I'm getting sick with worry. Please lets just pray or meditate or however you choose to do it for Mikel. He means so much to us all. What a wonderful man he is.

I do not know how much more waiting I can take! I am sending all the love and good thoughts his way that I can! This waiting is making me very sick! I sure hope we hear soon!!

I'm going to call in about an hour and see if I can get an answer. I am not letting my mind go there or anywhere that isn't completely healthy. It's just not like my/our Brother not to touch base at least once a day or so. We all know where he's going to as soon as he gets on that computer! HW!!! Let's keep it positive!

Thanks and I will keep watching for the update and try not to get upset! That seems to be my job...I always worry! I even tell people...no need to worry...I worry enough for all of us! I guess what bothers me the most is this is not like him...I am just hoping that he may want to be the one to let us all know what is going on and he is just not quite up to it yet!! We will hear something soon!

I am right there with you in the worry department and I tell people the same thing! I feel like that may be the case, but it is also always like him to do what he says he's going to do and that has had me worried too. PLUS, not having anyone call me and just having the one phone number on hand....well, I could go down that path as you can well see, but for him I am going to stay strong and not worry...well....
Yes, I think he may pop on here and laugh with us all in a sigh of relief! He's a wonderful man and I love him to pieces and I am so proud to call him Brother!

Has anyone heard anything about Mikel yet? I waited to post hoping that something would be heard by now. Big gentle hugs and ginormous prayers are sent his way. Update as us soon as you know!! Take care all and hang in there I'm sure it's just a crazy time for all of them. Heather

That is what bothers me too! We talked yesterday morning before he left and he said that someone would let us know right away and, like you said, this is not like him!! He is an amazing man and, like you....I just adore him! So what you are saying is....between the 2 of us...we got the worrying covered and then some! LOL! I am sure there are lots more people here worried about him too! Well.....I will just keep praying and do my best to not worry and stay strong!

It's wonderful how we all care for one another! I know he feels the same! Shewwwwwwwww! I'm so blessed that the surgery is over! Even moreso, that Mikel is fine!!!

Yeah for Mikel. I've been checking for an update here every hour!! Can you imagine up walking in the hall and it hasn't been 24hrs yet since he had his surgery!!! YOU GO MIKEL!!!! The beginning of your new life that you so deserve!!! I am proud of you my friend. Can't wait for you to get back on chat!!

My apologies to everyone here! We have been so worried all day and I had received an email at 7:23 this morning that I could have passed on to all of Mikel's wonderful family here! I have a really bad habit of not checking my email for days and I just checked it....so here it is...A little late! Again sorry for the extra worry...I did it to myself also!
He is such a wonderful guy and it sounds like he is doing really well! We love you Mike!

I'm Mike's friend Jessica. I just wanted to let you know that Mike's surgery went well. They took him in at 4:40 P.M. and finished at 8:10 last night. He was quite groggy when I saw him and complained some about pain, but still demonstrated his wonderful sense of humor.
He should be in the hospital for about four days. I'll let you know more, as per Mike.
