This is the week

Well this week I have my first physical therapy appointment, I am rather nervous about it since I have been to physical therapy in the past and have left there feeling 100 times worse then when I went in and at that point never thought it was possible but my Dr. states it is a "Check the Box" thing that has to be done first before I get an MRI.. They have also ordered a TENS unit which I really don't know what that is.. If you have used one or can explain it to me I would appreciate it. I hope that everyone is having a good week..

The home TENS units are about the size of a pager or a deck or cards (give or take) and are used for two reasons. One is to help rehabilitate muscles by causing them to contract and relax and the other is for pain relief by interrupting the pain singles from the pain site to the brain. It works for some people, for other it only works while the machine is on, and for some it does not do any good at all. The work by sending an electrical signal to the site. They are battery powered and most of the newer ones come with rechargeable batteries and a battery charger. The over all strength of the current as well as the frequency they turn off and on are adjustable.

Becareful and weary of the physical therapy...seems like they would do the MRI's before
any treatment so things don't get damaged more than they are..If they hurt you speak up
and make sure they don't push ya past your limits...this is not where you want to be told "No pain no gain"
as that's just bad...don't let them do that to you...and I hope it works good for you...
I had my mri's done before I did any PT or Chrio treatments...

I did my homework on them and got a good one from amazon...ask your doctor about the tens first ...

PT have you ever had E-Stim when doing PT? The Tens Unit is basically the same thing only much much smaller. These can be very effective for some people that experience a lot of muscles spasms. I have one and it helps me quite a bit. Granted its all temporary but it can give some relief. No point in stressing over PT, it just not worth it.

You know your body so if something hurts that they try to do by all means tell them. As a rule most therapists are not out there to sabotage us, its just some are more aggressive than others. I have had some excellent therapists and some not so great, kind of like with the dr thing.
