I think it's normal for most people to be a bit nervous and anxious when seeing a new doctor or even just going to a doctors appointment not knowing if you will get answers or not! I know i used to get excited going to doctors because i always thought of it as another opportunity for my life to be normal and to fix this, but as i was dissapointed everytime, i now just get nervous and anxious each time still with hope but also knowing i could be dissapointed again! Most gastroenterologists are very thorough and even if he/she can't help you they will normally have more ideas for you and can often find you a doctor that will help you figure out whats going on!

You will get answers eventually, Not sure how long you have had this? Medicine is so black and white, if you don't have textbook symptoms they assume there can't be anything wrong!! But if you keep finding different doctors and trying things, you will get answers :) hopefully even if they don't have an immediate diagnosis they can do something to ease the pain!!

Thanks to both of you. :) No answers yet of course, but she was nice. They want to do an endoscopy and abdominal ultrasound. Pretty standard stuff. Confirmation that I have likely developed a serious dairy allergy, but that is not the cause of my stomach pain since eliminating dairy has not eliminated the pain. At least she didn't dismiss it as simple heartburn like my primary tried to.

Well atleast she is investigating more, and hopefully it might show something (hopefully something easily fixable so you can get on with life) good luck and keep us posted :) :)

The endoscopy is a good diagnostic test,  it gives the doctor a first hand look at the inside of your stomach, who knows maybe you might have an ulcer or something? I know way back in my younger days I was having allot of stomach problems, and they did the scope, and sure enough I had a duodenal ulcer and that was back before they treated ulcers with antibiotics.  They use to think stomach ulcers was all caused by stress and diet. But now days they know better than that!!  According to Mayo Clinic they say in their article on stomach ulcers: ("  Although stress and spicy foods were once thought to be the main causes of peptic ulcers, doctors now know that the cause of most ulcers is the corkscrew-shaped bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). ") and now they treat ulcers with antibiotics and acid blockers and antiacids. The ultra sound is also a very good test, as it can show the doctor allot, especially with the structure of the stomach.  There are so many things that can cause your stomach pain, it is really good that your doctor is taking it seriously and following up to find out what is really going on, and causing your stomach pain. I sure hope that they can diagnose it quickly, and it is something easy to fix!

P.S. The Endoscope it a breeze couchtater has it about right, I don't remember very much about it, they sprayed my mouth and throat with something and then injected something into the IV an next thing I knew I was being woke up, and it was all over with.
