Hello all,
I'm a bit too shy to start a new topic to introduce myself so this seems like a good place to do it! Although I'm just introducing myself, I have been reading nearly every day for a long time and feel that I know all of you. I am moved and humbled by your stories and your courage.
My name is Julie and I'm 39. I'm happily married and have 2 kids - a 7 yr old son and 5 yr old daughter. Needless to say, they are my world. I was diagnosed w/fibromyalgia about 18 mos. ago although like most folks, I'm sure I've had it for years. Since then, things seem to be falling apart. Shortly after that, I discovered that I had a fractured tailbone but had no idea how I did it. That has been over a yr ago and it's been terribly painful every day since. In addition, I developed horrible pain in my legs and an EMG showed that I have perm nerve damage, most likely a result of the fracture my dr. said. I also started having lower back pain, and an MRI showed degenerative arthritis, which really surprised me.
I have a bunch of other "conditions" that usually go along w/fibromyalgia as well. I have to say though that I'm very fortunate to have 2 WONDERFUL doctors. My rheumatologist and my neurologist/pain mgmt. doctors have both been w/me since the beginning and at every appt. I whip out my notes and list of questions and they both love it that I do that!
Ok, that's long enough! Just wanted to introduce myself because then I'll feel more comfortable if want to post a response sometime. You are all amazing and thanks for sharing your lives...you have no idea the impact it makes! Even to "lurkers" like me!
Julie
