Vanessa is in Surgery! :) Need Prayers!

     WOW! Vanessa!    Good to see you posting, and it doesn't suprise me to see you here after our conversation yesterday. You sounded wonderful. Well at least in text form!   I must say, that your friend Ron did a wonderful job keeping us updated.

    Your parents must be so thankful for the new lungs, and of course you too!   You have been quite the little trooper!

      We all are just thrilled for you, and hope your recovery is a quick one. Just think of all the homework you have to do!

       Enjoy that new ability to breath on your own, and do keep us updated on your progress as well.

                      how excited I was on Wed. evening when Ron said, just a minute let me pass this over

                      so she can talk to you, and I'm, omg, no way, she is going to talk to me, it's only been 48hrs since

                      her surgery, you had me in tears girl. You are truly amazing my friend. You make us all proud!!!

Wow, Vanessa, many congrats on your new set of lungs, that is awesome! I'm glad to hear that everything went well with the surgery, now you just have to take it easy and let yourself heal. You're in my thoughts & prayers. Best wishes for a speedy recovery

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes and a very heavy heart! I am angry and sad and confused all at the same time! This can't be happening! She is going to be okay...she has to be! Keep fighting sweetheart.....we all believe you are strong enough to get through this! Why give this miracle just to take it away? It all seems so unfair...She is a child! She deserves this! This is why I am so confused about what I believe anymore! I am sorry....I am upset and do not mean to offend anyone! I will stop writing now!

Please just let her be okay!

I'm a friend of TMJpain ... she told me the story of Vanessa. Praying God and St-Joseph to heal her, to bring her to good health so that she can go on with her young life.

    Hello Stinger! I did not know where to contact you at, and was hoping you would see this post and the one on the CF forum. I knew that you were a friend as well, and told ellie to tell you all about the latest on this. I have visited chat from time to time in the evenings, but have missed you somehow. I do check Skype in the evenings as well, so maybe we can meet there.

     Thank you for your post here, and Ron her friend watches the replys. Pebbles225 keeps in contact with Ron and updates when she knows something. I did visit with Ron last night, and her condition is the same. Lungs are still collapsed, but she is awake and signing with those there.

     I told Ron to tell her I was coming with a tire pump to get those lungs pumped up. He has been a champ, and like Vanessa a very respectful young man. He is by her side 24/7 and the school delivers his homework there to the hospital. Vanessa is a very small girl at a little over 5' and a copple of inches, and that boyfriend is at 6' 3" and all muscle!

     Their family has been very gracious in updateing us, as they know we are all following this closley, and praying for this young girl. Vanessa greatly appreciates all of us here on the forum.

       Our love and prayers are with her and her family and Ron.

My experience of CF double lung transplants in friends tells me this is a very often occurance so soon after transplantation. The first week especially is very good news, bad news, topsy turvy as the body gets used to having new organs that might not quite be exactly the same size as the old ones. The body has just been through something major, so is trying to heal several wounds all once-while having its immune system removed by the high dose steroids. After the initial week rejections symptoms start to settle.
 
Transplant teams are made to deal with this, and will be jumping in at every given opportunity to make sure these lungs stick for vanessa, but problems arising so soon after is common.
 
What I will say, is everyone I know who has had a topsy turvy start, seems to be doing ok now. So there is every hope that once rejection is sorted out, things will settle down again for Vanessa quite quickly.
 
I just wanted to write this, as information really for those not really up on lung transplants.
 
I really hope that Vanessa fights this rejection episode quickly and that her docs are increasing the steroids some more to help Vanessa along.

       I spoke with Vanessa last night via text, and considering what she is going through, she seems to be in pretty good spirits. I even got a chuckel out of her. We didn't talk long, but I did tell her that we all were pulling for her here. She indicated that she knows that, and appreciates it greatly. Nothing has changed on her condition for the time being, but we hope that changes soon.

        I do believe that her boyfriend views this thread, and of course we let her know there are a lot of members praying and pulling for her. I have not talked to Ron in a couple of days, but Suzane has, and reports that she seems to be getting better day by day. Her Dr's expect her to pull through this, and we do too!

SE, it is so good to hear that she is improving! The healing powers of the young are amazing. Besides the physical reasons of why this occurs, children have an inner strength that would put most adults to shame.
