Good Morning Chronic Pain Family!

 

 

     It is a beautiful Monday morning!  Most of you are probably waking up to freezing cold temperatures and a lot of snow. Hopefully, are staying warm and keeping the cold bones at bay. Even though it would be nice if we could fast forward through Monday....   There are tasks to complete, jobs to do and appointments that need to be kept starting tomorrow.    

      Often times we are so busy supporting others that we forget to update about ourselves. So, before we get too wrapped up in starting out the week... Please, stop by and let us know how you are doing. Give us an update. We want to know how you are doing.

Not a good weekend at all. I ran out of pain meds last week and who knows when I will get any more because my so-called doctor is out of the office all this week on vacation and she never bothered to return any of my messages last week about moving my appointment to the pain nurse so I could get my meds.

On Saturday I had to do a little shopping and since my truck is covered in about 6 inches of snow I took my wife's SUV. While unloading the groceries the lift gate fell a little bit due to it being only 6 degrees out and I hit my head on the corner hard enough I went down and laid in the snow for a few minutes before I could get back up. The rest of the day Sat and all day Sun I dealt with a massive headache and a very sore back from falling adding to my normal misery of my bad lower back and still had to deal with my kid because my wife decided it was more important for her to spend 12 hours on Saturday "studying" with a school mate and then on Sunday she still managed to have 5 hours of homework to do.

Well howdy once again from the deep freezes of Kansas!  Yes...your not seeing things....it is I Scarred_For_Life!!  I am not a figament of your imagination LOL....I have been busy lately and for that my time spent on the computer has been limited.

Had a birthday recently (the 22nd) and spent a wonderful day shopping with my husband. The weather has been a tangle of snow and ice, so I have been staying busy with all my distractions trying to keep the pain level to a min.  47 years of age, you'd think I'd have gotten some wisdom in these old bones....but the older I get the more I think gee how did I get into this position?  But, I keep trudging on....like all of you the pain cannot stop me yet!

Okay so your all probably wondering how I've been......since this is Dani's thread....I'll keep my post for another time LOL.  Don't like to hi jack threads. :-)

Hello to all my dear friends....sorry I have not been around much lately, I have been having a rough time! I feel like my joints are doing much better but I am not sure if that is the plaquenil or the steroids! I am a little scared to go off the steroids next month, My Rheumy left me on a low dose (5mg) for the first 3 months because he said that is about how long it takes for the plaquenil to work. I really want off of the steroids, but worry it will send me into a flare! Anyway....I am having a LOT of lower back pain again! I can't sit at the computer for very long and can stand for even less time! I find myself in bed more then out of bed!! I passed my kidney stones and really prayed that my pain would ease....but it didn't! I am also going through what I can best describe as mourning! I feel like I have lost myself and I don't know who I am anymore! Because of staying in bed all the time...my depression is getting worse! I just don't know what to do anymore! I hope everyone is doing well or as well as can be hoped for!! Take care!

Hello everyone. Relatively new here on the board. Thank you for the reply's and the welcome posts =) The weekend was okay, but as usual, fought off pain and rest Saturday, so Sunday was a bear!! It is pretty cold here in Montana, so I know that doesn't help me either.

But for the week, I am trying a new approach. Instead of fighting myself over this pain battle, I am going to try to bring in acceptance. I need to accept that I have limitations. Even though I CAN move the desk, I shouldn't. Even though I CAN unpack those last few boxes from moving, I shouldn't. So instead of shouldn'ts, it is going to be I won'ts because I need to stay sane though this journey. Instead of gasping in pain at night due to the daily activities, I am hoping to have a nice even pain path with little to no spikes (wishful thinking I am sure!!!)

Anyway, thank you all again for welcoming me to the board, and for all the support you have and continue to provide so many people.

eyes am very very busy going for exercise three times a week, doing therapy twice a week plus getting car fixed. have been working on manuscripts plus getting rid of books. was able to make humus for friends. hope to bake bread soon. busy and the pain is still there but improving with use of an ankle brace and with the shoes and therapy and so forth.

am still very p oed with the medical people but they are a bunch of greedy creeps so they don't care about anything except money.

sorry but that is my true opinoin of the situation.

I everyone. My pain level has been pretty high lately -- worse than normal. I have an appointment next week for a second opinion regarding back surgery. The first surgeon recommended extending my fusion to the sacrum. I want to see what procedure this surgeon suggests, and also want to see if I prefer this surgeon. The two surgeons -- the one I already saw and the one I will be seeing next week -- are the top two surgeons for my condition in the area. I'm pretty convinced at this point that I do need the surgery. I can't keep living like this. Work has been almost impossible to keep up with. I've also been busy touring schools, trying to decide where I want my daughter to go next year. Almost none of these schools have elevators, so these tours have taken a lot out of me.

I don't have any special plans for the week. Tomorrow afternoon through Thursday will be challenging due to a snow storm. I may have to leave work early tomorrow, depending on the exact timing of the storm. And then I may need to go in late on Thursday or take a snow day. This weather definitely doesn't help my pain either. We've had a few days of extreme cold in Boston. The temperature was in single digits Fahrenheit, and occasionally dropped below zero (and that's before considering wind chill factor).

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I really miss you guys. My family and friends are understanding and supportive, but no one really gets what I'm going through unless they've experienced chronic pain. I've been feeling so isolated lately.

        I am struggling. The nausea that follows is constant. Sweating like it was middle of summer in Florida. It is very hard to focus. The tears just roll on while I work through daily tasks. This is wearing me down. It is so hard to walk. I walk with my left leg pulled out to the side because of my left hip and I cannot straighten my torso so I am listing to the right which is making my right hip push into my ribs more than usual. Gosh, darned, goodness I am tired inside and out. My right leg is constantly collapsing / curling inword. Gosh, I sure wish my body would slow down a little bit. Help is on the way, it just needs to hang in there.
