Back again with new question about hemroid cream.

Went to the GI doctor yesterday and have internal hemroids. He gave me a cream to apply  twice a day. If anyone has had this problem and used a cream my questions or.....Do they work and how long does it take for them to work? I am really about to go crazy with these things. I feel like they have been in my life too long. I enjoy going with the family and playing with my 3 year old granddaughter. Because of the pain and the fear of pain I have really limited myself to what I can do. I know that I am getting really depressed over this. I guess I will need some meds for that too. If anyone can help me I would really love to hear from you.

Hi Indigo!

I'm sorry you're having to suffer with this problem. It's a real insult to our heart and sometimes to our dignity. I'm not sure why but even the word hemorrhoids can elicit giggles and stares. Silly but we've all seen it. But if it happens to you it's definitely not funny.

I don't have any experience to share but I will agree that you might want to ask your doc about something for depression. If you find you are fearful of going out and become a hermit in your own home then it's time to let your doctor know. This is something I've had to deal with since the death of my oldest son over 10 years ago. Just doesn't seem fair, does it?

I struggled with hemorrhoids for many years. At one point they became so bad that my doctor had set me up to have surgery.

A few days before I was to have surgery I spoke to a retired proctologist. He asked me these questions:

Do you drink milk?
Do you drink coffee?
Do you eat nuts?
Do you eat popcorn?
Do you eat cheese?

He told me if I cut out these things I wouldn't have to have the surgery. He explained about dairy products and the oils in coffee. So I totally cut these things out of my diet and within a few days my hemorrhoids went anyway.

I suggest stop all dairy products and coffee. Every now and then I will have the flare up but it is because I did not stick with my diet.
