3 weeks knee surgery post op

hi i am 3 weeks post op. i am 28 , and i had a knee arthoscopy for a discoid meniscus with a tear and plica removal. im not walking and in severe pain. any ideas:(

Hi, Jenna,

That just doesn't sound right to me. One of my coworkers had the same surgery last summer and she was only off work four or five days and in a couple of weeks she was fairly pain free. What does your doctor say?

hi vannie dr said he doesnt know why im not walking. march 24th was the surgery. i am do pt. and the therapist said that my bending flexation is a 90 and when it is straight is -12.i saw the dr today he drew fluid from my knee and it was bloody. he told me i need to bear weight on it. i dont understand why im not walking. my family thinks that he may have messed up.this is very painful. i cant walk,drive or do anything :(

You have to walk on the knee and bear weight or you will not be able to and it will start to stay in a bent position. I have had over 30 scopes, and three total knees on the SAME knee. They are always able to draw off bloody fluid on mine, and it often depends on where they put the needle in. I wonder if he could inject 15 cc marcaine, and then after a half hour or so see, if you were able to bear weight and walk. I never had any PT for my scopes, just the total knee and revisions. You may be forming so much scar tisssue that he will have to do a manipulation under anesthesia, and directly from the surgery you need to go to physical therapy, and let them begin therapy, so as to avoid a repeat if that is the problem.
