Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that my surgery went well. I almost didn't go through with it due to cold feet but in the end decided it was the best thing to do.

Although, my hip is sore I can already tell it's helped because I don't seem to have the back pain I once did.

I post more later when I'm feeling up to it

Glenn that is wonderful news! Yea for you! I sure hope that the results of the surgery are everything you hoped for. Was the surgery out-patient? How long did it take? Are you up and walking on it already? Sorry to ask those kinds of questions but I used to work as a nurse and have so many orthopedic problems myself, I like to know the details. Sleep well and comfortably. Will be looking forward to another update.

It's good to hear that your surgery went well and that the back pain seems to be gone. You take care, and don't worry about us until you're feeling better. I hope that this surgery ends up being a very positive thing that you decided to get done.

So glad that your surgery went well and that you seem to already see improvement.  That's wonderful news.  I hope you continue to recover and feel better each day.  Keep us updated when you are feeling better...

Hey Glenn, very glad to hear that you went through with the surgery and now can tell there is an improvement. Surgery is always scary I think we all have been there with the cold feet before.

Please do keep us informed on how you progress along. Take care and behave yourself, follow the post-op instructions to the letter.

Hi everybody,

Feeling much better today. Not too much pain in my leg, hip.

In fact the only discomfort there seems to be is at the incision site.

This was an outpatient day surgery and took about three hours.

I originally thought I'd have to stay in the hospital for a few days afterwards but fortunately I didn't need to.

The physician who performed the procedure is the only one in my state who performs this surgery and he is very well trained and for that I am/was thankful.
I did quite a bit of research before agreeing but it was still a tough decision.

I will need to wear a brace for two weeks and use crutches for three weeks. Physical therapy for eight weeks. full recovery will take 4-6 months. I'm hopefully this will be the end of it but I've been told I may still need a hip replacement as I've developed Arthritis in the hip. I'm hopeful I won't need one, but only time will tell.

Hi again Glenn. Thanks much for posting again so soon and answering my questions. It sure sounds like doing that type of surgery using a scope is the way to go. 4-6 months isn't too bad. Sure beats the open surgery and that long recovery. Sounds like you will be out enjoying the warmer weather before you know it. Just don't get antsy and do something too early. Glenn, it's good to hear your surgery went well and you are recovering nicely! That encourages me!!

I have the same problem as you, both CAM and Pincer type FAI in the right hip (and possibly the left hip as well, but one thing at a time!). I've had my first meeting with the surgeon, had a cortisone shot in the hip joint to see if that helps at all, and then I see him again in 6 weeks to discuss next steps. I'm hopeful surgery will be the answer as we're hoping my chronic pelvic pain is caused from my hips being out of alignment - maybe we can fix two problems at the same time!

Like you, my surgeon is one of a handful in Canada who perform this procedure arthroscopically. I waited over a year for an appointment to see him (I'm in Canada by the way), as he has a tremendous wait list (and he triages his own cases, picking and choosing what he wants to work on).

Good luck with your physio and your on-going recovery. I haven't been posting much lately, but I have been following various posters, you being one of them. I'm happy to see a good outcome so far for you and will continue to keep you in my prayers for a full recovery and a huge improvement in your overall health.
