I know you wouldn't expect to find a post on the chronic pain forum about progesterone cream, but part of my chronic pain was suffering badly a whole week out of the month every month during my period. Does anyone know much about progesterone cream? My doctor I work for suggested it to me cuz he said women are getting way too much estrogen in their bodies which can inhibit weight loss AND cause bad bad periods among other aches and pains.

I started using the cream 3 months ago.....since then my periods have been, literally no big deal. I've lost almost 40lbs. I'm not as hungry or feel the NEED to snack....in general, it's just helped my chronic pain about 30 - 40%!

With that said, does anyone know of a "menstruation" forum or "pregnancy" forum or "trying to get pregnant" forum?

I just started using progesterone cream (about a week ago) for the same reasons that you said.  Wow - I'd give anything if it helped me even 10% of what it's helped you - that is wonderful.  Without TMI, I've been horrendously ill part of the month for the last 8 months (since the birth of my twins; my 7th c-section; and a tubal ligation).

So, that's all I really know about it - and that which I looked up on google.

I do know of  two very good forums for pregnancy, trying to get pregnant and so forth.  I don't think I can mention the websites here, can I?  (I can never remember these things; I'm sorry).... anyway, if you'll e-mail me a reminder, I'll send you the two forums that I would recommend for good support if you are pregnant, trying to conceive and so forth.

I don't know anything about the progesterone cream, but I wanted to let you know that I'm here to support you. It's great to hear that it has helped you so much. 40 pounds in 3 months is wonderful, and your pain so much better. That's great.

Hi Tina. I hope the cream helps you as much or more than it has helped Blondie. Wow, all the things that you've had to go thru since the birth of your beautiful girls. You take care.

I hope you're both having a low pain night and are getting some good sleep.

Hi Loretta.... ahhh, thanks for your kind words.  It would be a true miracle if it would give me some relief.  Oh, and if I lost weight????  Wow.  That would be another miracle! lol.  I gained a ton of weight w/ the girls.... lost a ton of weight.... but still have more to go.  It's not a vanity thing, but truly a thing to try to get to my best physically and such.  I'd love to have a human paper cutter and cut this stomach off of me.  tongue    The boys laugh because I always say that I don't have wrinkles on my face because they are all on my tummy.  Oh well, I call them my "battle scars".

Hope you both are having low pain nights.  I feel insomnia approaching, but going to try to sleep at least.

Blondie37 your post was exactly what I was wondering about. I was diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis and had 3 huge fibroids removed 3 years ago. Before getting diagnosed, I suffered from IBS, extreme constipation, 20lb weight gain in 3 months, intensely painful periods, terrible pms/moodiness, bloating, heavy flow, sore muscles, fatigue which all lead to feeling pretty depressed. Also around this time my libido just tanked. I also noticed I had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Suddenly whether I got 6 or 12 hours of sleep I woke up feeling exausted.

Finally I got the endo diagnosis and had surgery in Aug 2008, I did initially feel a little better afterward, but still had constipation issues, muscle and joint pain, achiness etc etc and sleep problems. I then had trouble getting pregnant so I went on Clomid...and almost immediately got pregnant with twins. During my pregnancy I actually started to feel a little better. The constipation was gone and up until the end of my pregnancy ( when you're just huge and uncomfortable no matter what.) my muscle pain wasn't so terrible and my general mood was good from day to day. However, after I gave birth my body for lack of a better term, totally flipped out. It started when 2 months after the birth I was diagnosed with Mono after a routine blood test. I was 35 so pretty strange. I was extremely tired and extremely sore. The pain just started reaching crazy levels. I'd wake up and feel destroyed. I got post postpartum depression and felt angry, moody and sad for probably 5-6 months until thank god it lifted. Looking back I should have been on an anti depressant but I didn't want to believe I had it. That was last Fall...

My body is in so much pain, my muscles make crackling noises in my back, although I can easily fall asleep, I do not fall into a deep restorative sleep so waking up even after a lot of sleep still feels like I've been up all night. ( my twin girls are excellent sleepers so I am getting a lot of sleep now) I've already gone into too much detail...but suffice to say...my extreme fatigue, muscle pain, trigger points etc etc put me in the Fibromyalgia category. I started taking Savella and although I haven't experienced any difference in the pain, the change in my periods has been life changing. I went from even after the surgery and pregnancy, still experiencing all the symptoms I talked about before to having normal nearly pain free periods. Something hormonal is going on.

High Estrogen is linked to endo and fibroids...given my symptom history and doing a lot of online research I have started to wonder is progesterone cream might benefit me. Hearing your story has me VERY curious now. How did you get the cream, did the doctor you work for advise you on how to use it? Did you have any hormone testing done first? Were you ever diagnosed with endometriosis? Just curious what your prior symptoms besides chronic pain were.

Yes, I did get tested for everything about 2 weeks ago with an OB/GYN female fertility and "menstruel problem" specialist. She said everything in me was fine and all the tests came back normal. (The reason I went is cuz my hubby and I are ttc and haven't been successful for the last 18 months! But I've had 3 healthy children, so I figured it wasn't me, we just wanted to make sure. In fact, like I said, after using the progesterone cream my periods immediately "went back to normal" and that was 3 months ago, and when the OB/GYN dr did a test it STILL came back that my progeterone levels were a little low! And that was with me using the cream for the last 3 months! So that gives you an idea of how low they must've been without the cream.

The cream I use, the doc I work for sells in his office. It's called "Doctor's Natural Therapy" PMS & Hormonal Balance Solutions Natural Progesterone Cream. He has 3 daughters who've all had babies recently and he makes them use it right away after having their babies to avoid postpartum depression and so far none of them have had it. (I guess his wife had it REAL bad, so that's why he looked for it for his daughters)

The insructions that come with it are REALLY detailed and precise....like for how old you are and where you're at with your cycle, even down to the day. It's very precise.

The only thing I tell people is to make sure they follow the instructions to the T!!! It's very important that they're consistant with it and use it exactly as directed.

Hello Blondie, I cant help you with the cream, I am so past menopause even I dont know.  I am curious was this info you got from a OB/GYN, where is this extra estrogen coming from?

They say estrogen is what cows & livestock are being injected with to "beef up" their products. And I've heard it's used to spray on vegetables and stuff (I've heard cuz estrogen makes things grow, hence the reason that if we have too much of it in our bodies, WE GROW! :-)

I've heard this from several sources: one being that movie Food, Inc. another from my doctor (not the OB/GYN - I didn't think to ask her).
