Shock news

Hi Guys

Sorry been an awful time for me, what with work and having the pain issues as well. Well today I got a text message sent to me from the hospital reminding me of my appointment tomorrow at 9.30am. I did not know anything about this appointment so I phoned the hospital and the appointment clerk told me "Yes that is right we sent a letter to you in June" to which I replied "well I did not get this letter and as I am sure you will most probably know I am quite upset about it" The appointment clerk said "can you not make the appointment tomorrow then?" I asked "what is the appointment for as work my have an issue with only a days notice for time off" She replied with" well it is for your pre op" I was in shock, so I asked "Does that mean that my operation is soon" she said yes its been arranged for 17th July, you come in on the Sunday and have the operation on the Monday"

So guys I was shaking like a leaf and got very upset once I put the phone down after letting her know I would be there tomorrow morning. I have asked for the time off work and they have been fantastic. So it looks like I am not having my surgery in September as told at last appointment, I am having it in July. I am still trying to get my head round it all, I know its great news, but I thought I would have more time to get use to the idea first. I have to laugh now because it seems that my life is not that easy LOL


My dog is doing fine as well since his operation. He is still bandaged up and still has to have his stitches out but he has found a new lease of life The vet has said it was cancer and it will come back again but I am making the most of my little old man while I can.

Hi Sue what wonderful news, but I would be shocked too. It's not too long before you will be feeling better with your pain. I wish you good luck with your appointment later (now Thursday).

I'm glad that your doggie has had the surgery and got that old cancer taken off. I'm a doggie and kittie lover as well. I hope it doesn't come back.

Hiya guys

Thanks so much for listening to me ((((hugs)))). My doggie is great, just can not believe how much energy he has, he has even made me giggle over the past few days, its like he is a puppy again.

Today went well, they have run through everything with me and I feel ok about it all now. They now say that I have spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis. They can sort it out for me, so fingers crossed now that all goes well. I am going to go shopping for all my new nightwear, dressing gown and slippers on Saturday, just so I am ready for Sunday 17th July. They are doing the surgery on the Sunday which surprised me, they told me it is a new scheme they are doing (my mum thinks its just so they can reduce the waiting list quicker). I have my positive head on guys and I can not wait now for it to be done, you never know it could be a great summer for me after all

Hi Sue, wow what a shock I am sure. But, one thing about it, by having your date moved up that is less time for you to mull things over in your mind and perhaps upset yourself. Any time surgery is in the future it can worry a person. What kind of surgery has the dr proposed to you? I am surprised you didn't hear from the surgeon rather than the hospital, thats a little odd.

Anyway, I wish you the best on your pending surgery.

Well wishes for a good outcome from me too. I will be praying for you Sue on the 17th. I hope you were careful and didn't overdo today. I love going shopping. It gets me out of the house and I enjoy it. I always take an oxycodone and either Bayer Back and Body or Tylenol Arthritis, so I'm not in bad pain while out. I'm curious as to what you found at the shops.

Sue, some people like to take their own bed pillow or a small throw with them to the hospital. hospital pillows are usually something else to be desired, lol.

Forgive me, but I cannot remember what kind of surgery you are having. Alot will depend on the type of surgery and what did the surgeon say about this? As long as you are doing ok, we all know insurance companies rule the length of stays in the hospital.

Lots of times constipation is a major problem for people after surgery, you may want to consider getting something for that like either a box of prunes if you like prunes. Careful not to overdo on them or you will end up with a different problem, lol. Usually 4-5 a day does the trick of keeping things moving right along. If you opt for something OT, many here have used Miralax, its a good stool softner.

If I can think of anything else will post it here. I am still having major internet problems even tho they were here Friday running a new line from house to the box in my neighbors yard behind our house.
