Don't we all love the MEMORY LOSS of chemo??

I'm trying to figure out if I overdosed my pain killer... smhair

And what I should do... because I dont know if I did, I just think I did. Dang memory tricks from chemotherapy.

I also want some help on how I can gain that memory back so I dont do stupid things like this.

Medication is Oxycodone/Apap (aka percocet) @ 5/325 MG

Rx: 1 po 8 hr

Possible that I have took 2 instead of 1

What do i do?????

oxycodone is 5mg and motrin is 325mg that is what you are taking. It is the lowest dose. The side affects are constricted pupils, constipation, dry mouth. But at that low a dose you probably wont have any side effects. If you took two then you would be fatigued. So take a breathe and relax. You should keep a medicine notebook. Write what you took, and the dosage and what time. That is what I do because I was forgetful. That solved the problem.

that is a very good idea. thank you betsey. i will try that. yea, i am tired. but it is also almost 5am and i havent gone to bed. i had a feeling if i asked more than likely someone would know what to do. thank you agian.

       Good morning Smurfy! Betsey Ross is correct! The dose you are on is the lowest for the Percocet.

          You should have no problems, as long as you don't keep repeating the mistake. However if you feel that you are experiencing some side effect because of the increase, then by all means call your DR.

        Again you should be fine.

im only tired, but its almsot 7am and i havent gone to bed yet... wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with me first. Didnt wanna not wake up. Glad to know Im on a real small dose!

Nothing to worry about if all you possibly did was take 2 tablets instead of one. It is not uncommon for doctors to Rx that dose as 1 or 2 every 8 as needed anyway.

What I suggest you do is get yourself a small dry erase board and put it on your fridge and then mark on it when you have taken your medication that day. Write something like Perc 7am. Perc 3:30pm etc. Then you can keep track of when you have taken it and know when it is OK to take another.

A pill box would be good for any meds you need to take daily regardless of how you feel. They are available from single dose per day up to 4 doses per day and are usually good for an entire week.

To prevent occurances like this I use a pill box. I need the one with 4 compartments per day, each day removable so I can take it with me if I go out.

I ALSO keep a log/journal! I write in what time I take each pill, even vitamins, plus pain levels, location of pain if relevant, like mine is now after 2 abdominal surgeries only a week apart. I write down what I eat and drink, reactions to foods and meds. It's made for good information for my doctors! I go back through it before visits. Much better than relying on memory, which is unreliable without being messed up with meds!

Promise not to laugh? I use a pill box. I just didnt get up for it. The bottle was closer.

I agree the one way to remember how many pills you have taken is to at night countout what you need for the next day and keep them in a seperate bottle.Also the more reading and exercising the mind thur anyway possible even computer games ,play memory games ect ,as you really need to keep your mind sharpe,without it is a scarey thing,please take take ,try boggle or word scrambles

acetaminophen or "paracetamol" is the oter drug (APAP) 4000mg per 24 hours, your fine. phosphatidylserine and acetyl-L-carnitine, coenzyme Q10, amino-acid complex, l-glutamine, n-acetyl-l tyrosine, niacinamide, the herbs: gotu kola, astralagus, rhodiola rosea root. anything that that is a free-radical scavenger or anti-inflammatory or a metabolic fuel carrier like dimetylglycine or ubiquinol can help memory. B complex vitamins and additional ones like inositol, choline, riboflavin, and a form of b-3 known as NADH-nicotonic adenine dinucleotide. plant compounds like resveratrol and ginsenosides and beta-glucans like from reshi mushrooms. as far as perscription meds.:dexedrine, vyvanse, wellbutrin, a class of drugs known as nootropics.

 I was just going to point out it is not motrin or ibuprofen that is percocet, my tylenol, or its equivalent. And as already pointed out, you need to stay below the recommended max dose for it.
