My Dr gave me a script
for OXYCONTIN 60MG my insurance will NOT pay for it until I have tried 2 extended release medications first. I have already tried MSCONTIN 60MG and it was the WORST! The side effects I had from the morphine was a nightmare. So with that being said I need a medication that does not have morphine in it. Can someone PLEASE give me ur suggestions...

You need to call and either make an appointment with your doctor, as soon as possible or
you need to leave a message for your doctor about
the trouble at the pharmacy...
or if it gets really bad, your pain, of course then seek out help at the Emergency Room...
Do you have back pain? or other type of pain ? a little more info would be nice...
The one thing you don't want to do is ask your doctor for any
specific pain medicine....
Hope you can get a low pain day soon....

Yes i have an appt with my dr. She told me if i had any suggestions let her know. The morphine incident did not happen today. It was like 2 weeks ago. I have arthritis in my back, 2 bulging disc in my back, damaged nerves along with fibromyalgia. I also suffer from migraines as well.

I'm sure your Dr has been working with you for a while and knows you best. It would be impossible for anyone here to honestly recommend a medication because none of us are Drs and we might give you the name of something that works for one of us but that you are allergic to.
No two medicines work exactly the same for any two people.
The insurance thing is not that unusual. If you call them or perhaps go online to their site, they can generally tell you what they recommend you take instead of the oxy. It is pretty cut and dry with them and I have had a similar experience with meds (except mine was for human growth hormone). For me, they insisted that I try two other brands before using the one the Dr wanted me to use. I ended up being able to use the second one I tried and got it basically free for over a year (with a special card system they use). I could even use the card to pay for my insurance co-pay.
Good luck...please call the Dr ASAP if you are in serious pain or go to the ER...but remember that the ER is unlikely to prescribe anything like this since they don't want to get caught up treating chronic pain patients. They will help for immediate need, but you may get noted as a drug seeker.
I wish you the best!

Hi Young pain, sorry about
the insurance woes. I hate how they dictate to us! My body doesn't do well with morphine either. I get constipated and it seems to really make me loopy. I hope with your doc's help you can figure something out. Take care.

Ok well im home. And now im on the patch (50 mcg) every 3 days along with my 15mg oxycodone for bt pain. Hopefully by later on tonight I will b able to tell whether the patch works or not since ppl stated it takes about
10hrs to come n effect. Is anyone else on the patch or has been on the patch? What was ur experience like? Did it help at all?

Hi Youngnpain
I was on the patch before and didn't have any problems with it although I think most people will tell you it only really lasts about
2 days rather than 3. Best of luck..hope it does the job. Take care.

Hi Young, glad to hear that the dr was able to give you something else for the time being. Lets hopes once enough gets into your system you will start feeling better. The patch is a good pain reliever and hopefully it will work well for you. I urge you to read the insert that came with the box of patches it will tell you the do's and the don'ts so please read it.
Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Thanks Straydog. That is something that I ALWAYS do is read the precautions with every med I take. I also do my own research on the med as well. I like knowing everything about
the medicine I take!
