MY MRI findings from 2009

I understand no one here is a doctor and I wont take anything as medical advice but which of these do you think is causing me so much lower back, butt and leg pain.. my docs think that none of these are too painful I disagree ..also I have awful pains when I sit on a hard chair feels like I am sitting on a golf ball even if I sit in the car to long I have this pain I think its seperate from this mri stuff it also puts pressue inside on my bowls about a inch or two from my rectum ..if I sit on my tailn=bone for to long it even had giving me open sores but its not like the bones poking through I thought it was pinal cyst had it checked but it wasn't..anyways just wanted to see if I could get any feedback on what this MRI means to you..Thank you so much .. while my whole lower back hurts burns and is sore I only have the awful pain in my left leg ..one other thing is back in 1998 or so I slipped on our stairs and feel on my tailbone hard and wasnt able to sit for a very long time after that ..we had no insuance so I never went to the doctors for it ..it seemed to clear up and be fine then in 2003 I was digging up weeds in the yard something in my back popped I was in so much pain I went to a chryropractor he adjusted it made it about 100 times worse and I have had pain every day from that point on except for when I was pregnant ..the only other times I have been pain free was when I have been on steroids for a breathing problems I was having ..I wish steroids were not so dangerous because I would love to just be on those forever

Lumbar vertebrea are normal in height..
disk space maintained..
invertabral disks normal
L3 L4 normal
neural foramina are patent

L4L5 small broad based posterior disk bulge..Mild facet hypertrophy is present.The midline thecal sac dimension is 10mm There is moderate narrowing of the right and left neural forminia

L5 S1 small based posterior disk bulge,Mild facet hypertrophy is present.The midline thecal sac dimension is maintained. The neural foramina are patent

Impression:
Degenerative disk disease and facet spondylosis at the level L4 L5 A broad based posterior disk bulge contures the ventral thecal sac..there is moderate narrowing of both neural foramina at this level

L5 S1 small based posterior disk bulge

I am afraid Snowbunny is right, this is such an old MRI and things do change. From what you describe I would not be surprised of nerve involvment at all, that is some of the symptoms. In the future is you could get a new MRI, then I would asked to be referred to a neurosurgeon. A neurosurgeon has more training when it comes to dealing with nerve issues. An orthopedic's specialty is more of the bones and structure.

Do you not have any insurance? It sounds as if you do with the referral...but it's confusing if you have to pay for the appt...

If for some reason it is out of pocket...Tell the Dr. and they can lower the price significantly....Maybe even for free as it's a quick referral.

BadReflux be prepared for the neurosurgeon to tell you that a new MRI is needed before he can tell you anything. He will want to see the old MRI films along with new ones for comparison. Most want MRI's no more than a year old. I do hope you can get things going to get some better answers.

BadReflux no one here thinks you are whining. We have no doubt that you are suffering and in pain. We do not judge anyone here or make comparisons on who hurts the most of who has the most wrong with them. Never discount your pain.
