Computer died

Last time it was the power supply this time it's the motherboard and cpu
So this time it's a more expensive fix, but fixable I have parts on order
From newegg and I'm using my tablet but wont be here often till we get
this fixed, my new motherboard ( mobo) is going to be Amd Asus crosshair v
and it's not cheap only problem is the cpu that came out last year did't meet the performace
it instead was a let down and so I was waiting for the new
piledriver cpu but my computer broke down bfore that could come out so my new
Cpu is iffy...I'll try to be back soon but my nook tablet will be it for a few
Weeks, so be patient and I might have more typos and things...and I cant decide
on what case I like this built is completely modular and my first put together
rig (computr) will miss y'all. But will be back with a new rig, faster smarter and
able to jump thru hoops better, hahaha...a little computer humor, eh...might even
be able to overclock ( computer lingo for bad a** mobo). Y'all gotta learn what goes nto

Sorry for your computer issues, hopefully you will get your parts and get it up and running , You sound like you know what you are doing, that's so nice. When my laptop died hubby told me its dead I asked him what it was doing when it died he said I dunno it just died.

I did the best fix I could considering neither of us know anything about fixing computers I went to best buy and bought a new one oh we'll the bill I didn't pay will wait and if they don't we don't need satellite tv anyway. Lol

Getting some parts today from ups, just hate hanging around waiing all day until they get here and will get some more parts on Monday.
Its better and cheaper to build your own rig then buying a stock computer and not getting what you need or want with a stock computer, and when you build a rig you know what you have. But its a bummer as mine broke just 3 months before Amd/Asus is bring out a new cpu called piledriver, but if its successful it'll be a great cpu, but costly. At this point Amd/Asus needs a great cpu or they migjt loose a lot of gamers.

I've never built my own system, but it is something I could do. Instead, I've tended towards the ready-made Dell XPS systems... mainly so I don't have to worry about device/driver conflicts & installation. However, I immediately delete/replace much of the bloatware.

I've not always been happy with some of the new ASUS consumer products (I have their tablet and U35JC laptop), but they have for a LONG time been among the best mobo manufacturers.

I'm also a fan of AMD cpu's -- usually better bang for the buck, though I currently have a core i7-2600 cpu.

If you're planning on getting an external drive for backups, I read a good article recently comparing eSATA vs USB 3.0. Though the industry is migrating to the latter, the former has much faster speeds when transferring many small-mid size files (as is often done in backups).

My brother is a huge Linux fan and constantly pushes me to give up Windows. I'm stuck, however, as the most important thing I do with the computer is write, and I use Wordperfect (vastly superior to MS Word), but it only works on Windows.

I've seen the water cooled systems, but it seems a disaster waiting to happen. From my experience, the most severe heat source is the video card, and I suppose it would be good to get data on its running temp. before a purchase.

It is good that you have a hobby. I tinker with my computer as needed, but leaning forward, such as to assemble parts, is too painful for me. But I do need to find a more active hobby -- when not working, I'm usually reading or filling up time with misc. web stuff (such as this board).

There is an equalivant to wordperfect for windows on Linux and your
brother could put it on for you, its what I use for letters and such...ask
your brother about it linux wont crash as windows does.
My main job for this build was to find the parts I wanted, hubby willput most of it together, and yes the graphs card do heat up but not as much as the cpu as thats why you need a heat sink on the cpu, gotta keep the processor cool, aint it fun to tinker about computer parts...you should see my heat sink it hs a double fan, look at www.frozencpu.com the neat stuff they have.
