My PM took me off all meds.  I was on 100 ms contin 2 x a day and 5 30 mg. roxys a day now I am going through a withdrawal and don't menting the pain in my back is terrible today.  I can't even move.  Any help will be appreciated.

I'm sorry this has happened, but can you tell us some of the details and as to why he did this? This would be very odd for a PM to do this, and not at least wean you off. You might call him back and ask about the "Suboxone" treatment. However it takes a special licensed Dr to admister this med, and may be hard to find in your area. I believe we only have two Dr's in our area that can give it.

If you have been dismissed for breaking a contract with him, then you will have to seek help from a clinic that treats patients for this type of problem. At the moment we don't have enough information on why he pulled all med's from you. Again, it would be odd for a PM to do this.

My pm changed offices after 14 years and went wih orthopedics.  He talked me into going with him.  I should have never left because he gives no more injections (radial frequencies) etc.  I have high blood pressure so when he was affliated with pain management he always took my vitals and I also tend to have seizures so I need my bp checked.  When he left he never took a bp or any other vitals again.  When I went to my primary my pain was so high that she gave me oxycodone and my bp pressure went down.  I know that was a breach of contract and when my pm found out he let me go with one prescription for the next month.  In the mean time I went and found a new pm.  I am afraid that he will not take me when I tell him the truth.  My primary knew I was seeing a pm she set it up 14 years ago and knows that she shouldn't have given me anything. 

I started a withdrawal and ended up in the hospital with lower back pain and they did test and found that I have chronic back pain. (3 buldging discs and full arthritis in my spine.  Should I tell the new pm what happened to me.   Please help.

Sorry this has happened to you. A responsible doctor would not have cut you off cold turkey like that, as weaning down is critically important when come off of the meds that you were on. Do you have any alternative doctor or PM that can help you off the meds correctly? Whether you should disclose the whole story, is definitely a tough situational ethics matter. I can see both sides to that question, you are going to have to search hard, and decide what is in your best interest.

Hope you find a solution, and quickly.

Jazzie I am understanding this right, that your seeing this pain doctor and you have a pain contract with him, but you had went to your Primary Physician and he/she took your BP and it was super high because you were in pain, and then she gave you pain meds to get your BP down. And when you told your Pain Doctor he dismissed you? with just one months of pain meds is that right? I know you have an agreement with your pain management doctor, but if your Primary Care Physician gave you the medication because of your Pain causing you High Blood Presure, and if you not abusing the meds. I question that Pain Management doctor,????? May I ask does he do a drug test on you every time you go to him? Personally I don't see that, if it all happened the way you described it, that you did anything that wrong! Have you talked to your Primary Care Physician about all this? Maybe she could call him and get this all straightened out????

Anyway I am sorry that you have had to go through this, hind sight is always 20/20 but it sure sounds like going with that doctor when he moved was a big mistake. Bottom line is when you go to this new pain clinic be honest, that is always the best policy, ask your primary care physician to write you a referral heck maybe ask if she or he will vouch for you about what happened, just in case you need that. If you don't tell them and they find out later it will look bad for you, so it is best to just be completely honest right from the get go!

Thank you all. My pm sent me a letter saying that he is there for me for 15 days and 15 emergency days. I think that is the law. He was nicer than my primary doctor was to me. She called me a drug addict and now I want to get a lawyer involved in this. She knew I was with a pm because she sent me to him. In the mean time I went to the er and they did all tests and the diagnosis was cronic back pain. They also sent my primary the records after giving me 2 shots of dilaudid. The er doctor said you need these meds. I don't know what to do with the new pm. I am so confused.

for over 1 year I was getting pain in my legs and my primary kept telling me that it was my back. One night I was in bed watching tv an PAD. The next day I called the doctor and told her that the pains were identical to PAD. She finally sent me to a vascular surgeon and I ended up in the hospital within the week having my carodic artery cleared it was 99 % blocked. Then 2 weeks or so later he had to put stents in my groin because I had no blood flow left in my legs. The primary never checked my bp in my feet knowing the pain I was in. I really want to call a lawyer for this. I could of had a stroke. Do I go this route because I know that doctors stick up for each other but everyting that happened to me has been documented. Even my heart doctor told me to leave her practice and so did my pm tell me that and they both gave me 3 names of other doctors to go to. I stayed with her - why I don't know.

I meant to say that I diagonosed myself by watching the commercial for PAD. They had a test and I called their 1800 line and they told me to get to my doctor the next day.

Jazzie you have a mess here no doubt with the PM dr that has released you from his care. The best I can say is since you had a contract with the PM it was violated by you receiving pain medication from the primary care dr. He could say and be correct that you knew by accepting the medication you were violating the rules agreed upon between you & him. You had the option to deny accepting the pain medication. I am not saying I agree with these contracts because I don't. When pain get severe why are we suppose to just sit & suffer but that is how they view things.

Since you found a new PM dr go see him/her and hopefully they will accept you as a patient. I would be honest about what happened between the other two drs. That is all you can do.

As far as suing this dr it is very difficult to prove malpractice. In most states before you can sue a dr, the drs negligence has to result in either the death of the patient, the care left the patient disfigured, or the care left the patient permanent disability. Also an expert must give an opinion within 60 days of the lawsuit being filed or the case is thrown out by the courts. In most instances an atty will require you to obtain all of your medical records and bring them with you to the appt. You may want to call some attys and just see what they have to say, it just takes some phone calls. It is a very long, difficult and expense journey with caps on how much a person can collect. Much of the time the attys turn the cases down because there is not enough in damages to collect, when you calculate the cost to try a case.

Honestly, after being told to get out from under her care I am surprised that you stayed with her too.

That is AWFUL!!! I feel so bad for you!! Call on call, they will not call you out pain meds or suboxone, but the can give you clonidine it will make you very sleepy which is good until you can see the doc and either get bck on meds or wean off. Good Docgors would never just take a patient off their medss, its the wors thing you can go though. Take care

He used to be a pm then he left to go to a ortopedic place and I never signed a contact with him at the new practice.

I went to the hospital and they took tests and diagnosed me with chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, vasular disease (stents were put in my legs) and my corodic artery done, keen boch disease, copd and arthritis. I also have arthritis in my spine and 3 bulging discs. My pm used to give me radial frequencies until he left that practice and now he does no procedures which I need.

I spoke to my lawyer today and he said because of the vasular problems for 1 year and my primary did nothing that he would love the case. So I am going to sue her. I never sued anyone in my life but he told me that he has doctors that he works with and that I have a great case.
I guess we will see.
