Spent nearly 2 hours at the scan clinic, all scans done for now.  And now the real waiting  game begins for me.  There is so much online this time, more than ever before.  With tommorow being the Friday before the 3 day Labor Day holiday, its possible I may not get results before the break.  Hope not, don't want to have to sweat it out those extra 3 days, but it may be the case.

Sure my oncologist is just as anxious to get the blood work and scans back.

Will let you all know here, just as soon as I know what is going on.

Blessings Dave. Now the hard part begins but hopefully , the wait will bring good news. I am crossing everything that I can cross and sending up prayers.

Try to hang in there thru this waiting game, that has to be the hardest part, I know it is for me....but hopefully, no news is good news...

David,

I've been thinking about you a lot these last few days. I can't imagine how hard it is to wait for these test results. I'm praying for the best for you. Hang in there; hopefully it won't be long before you know something.

I guess when you this bad, you just want some answers.  Hopefully everyone involved in your care is as anxious to get to the bottom of all of this as you are, and you'll know something very soon.

I'll keep the prayers coming. That's the best medicine I know of.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE 3:30

Still not a word from the doctor. Tests may or may not have been finalized. Here, most doctor offices close up early on Fridays, and looking at the start of 3 day Labor Day Weekend. Sucks if I have to wait till Tuesday to find out anything. Waiting is lots of fun with something this serious at stake......not.

No answers today for sure. in the past, when i had scans done with this dr, he called me within 24 hours with the all clear signal. hoping this doesnt mean its bad news, and he's going to wait and tell me in person next week, instead of giving me really bad news with a cold phone call. it's easy for my imagination to run away right now, with all this not knowing. meanwhile, my symptons are still as strong as ever, and still losing an average of one pound per day in weight.

i can tell its going to be a long 3 day holiday

Hi David, hope you're able to get you're mind off of it in some way this weekend, hopefully you get a nice visit from your kids, or something that will at least get it off the front of your mind. Take care, and I hope you have some kind of decent weekend.

Chill out that imagination David!!! Easier said than done,lol. You are a strong man and have a wonderfull support system. I am confident you are going to deal with what you need to realistically and with great strength.

Ive been checking in every hour or so hoping to see some news. I can't imagine how you feel, I feel anxious for you! That's the worst of long weekend holidays, it may just be because staff have taken off for the holiday! Yes David, you are right, it is easy to let your imagination go in to overdrive. Try to do something nice this weekend, is your wife off? Maybe you could go for a drive or something.

I'll be thinking of you. Is it still warm in South Carolins? We woke up,to frost this morning. Temp overnight was 1 degree C, and it's supposed to still be summer!!!!

I know it's hard David...but try to think about it this way....whatever you find out next week...nothing will change in the next few days. The stress and worry you have will not change whatever the answer is. It will only make these next few days worse.

So, try to just give it up to God (if you are spiritual) or try to just put it away and enjoy every moment of this holdiay weekend.

My point is that fretting or stressing doesn't change the outcome and only spoils the time waiting.

Spend time with your lovely wife....spend time with friends...get outside in the sun...Maybe even find something that you and your wife can do to go volunteer or help someone else who is in need right now. Get your mind off of your health worries. As I wrote about my friends with cancer....even in their darkest hours....they were finding ways to seek out joy and spend time with loved ones.

Couldn't imagine frost, as it was 94 and humid here today, which made me feel worse than ever. I thrive in cold weather, that is what I miss most from having use to live in northern New England.

Tried twice today to eat, both times, grilled chicken salad. I was cramping up as I was eating, which is a new twist to this. Took the wife out downtown tonight to eat, and while I enjoyed the going out part, the eating part just created more misery for me. It's not worth the effort and the extra pain right now for me to even want to eat anything. Sure hope I get some kind of definitive news in the end, good or bad. Can't keep on going like this. My normal chronic pain is enough to handle, without the addition of the eating related pain.

Thanks for the concern, support, and prayers. No, I do not feel alone in this. My own family is hoping upon hope, that it's not pancreatic cancer.

And here I am, a week from Sunday we are suppose to go on our cruise, sure need some answers and some hope before then.

No matter what, I hope you can go on your cruise and enjoy some time relaxing with your wife. A week or so won't make too much difference and if you feel well enough to go, you should go.

Well it's 2.30am, so you will gather I can't sleep tonight, my back is so sore, I just can't seem to get comfortable. Usually with all my pillows etc, I have no problems in settling down but tonight I don't know what is wrong. I am waiting on my MRI results too, but the outcome for me certainly isn't as worrying as yours.

Well back try get some sleep again. zZZZzzzzzzzzz!!,

Thanks, Jane, hope you can get some decent sleep here. For some odd reason, with all this hanging over my head like the proverbial sword, I have slept much better the past 3 nights. Actually had unbroken periods of sleep exceeding 5 hours at the time, which for me, almsot never ever happens, even though I have been on ambien for over 12 years.

Regardless of the pending news, even if it is worse case scenerio, I intend to go on the trip regardless. I still need the break, as does my overworked and burned out wife. I would not deny her this vacation, unless for some reason I was hospitiilized, which I am not expecting. No matter what happens, me being gone a week and a half on vacation is not going to change the dynamics or outcome of anything.

So Carnival Cruise, come on down! We leave for Charleston a week from this Sunday, and despite the concern of not knowing what is really going on with me, I am excited to be going. Spending a day before, and after the cruise with our daughter will be some special time too, as we don't get to see her as often since she and her husband moved to Charleston a year or so ago

Good luck to you, on your MRI results. All our tests/scans are important, not just mine.

David I live in northern Maine. You and the wife are welcome to come visit, it's already getting cold at night here! I hate the cold it make the pain so much worse. In fact, let's just trade! I love heat!
