It's Survivors....Monday... Just a day late because of the holiday! Time to check in.... let us know how you survived the (long) weekend.... and what you've got planned for the week ahead.

I need to finish sewing 3 checkered flags for this saturday night. Hubby gave away 4 flags this past weekend.

Its do able but I will pay the price. One track is finished for the season so we will be going to only the other one that is running until 10-6-12 which hubby works as assistant starter.

Last week I bought a long gown in deep purple color in chiffon. I go back in 3 weeks to have 2 feet cut off and hemmed and the torso taken in. This will be my banguet gown and it will hide all my scars on my leg

Cleaning up the house a bit...and playing with my 2yo kitty Vera made my 3day weekend awesome,

This next week.....I'M looking forward to bathing suit shopping for vacay with mother-in-law!

   ...I had planned on doing a Brisket this weekend, however woke up Sunday morning with more than usual back pain and never made it to Sam's Club to pick one up. So, I pulled another meatloaf out of the freezer and smoked it later in the day.

    Most of my day Monday was spent laying in bed posting right here on the forum. I did get in a couple loads of laundry, especially bedding. Finally got in a shave after about a week or so...and clipped my toenails...one of the hardest things for me to do. I have an ingrown toenail that I have been messing with for 20yrs or so, and really need part of the nail removed, hopefully around Christmas break. It's going to hurt bad!...and I hate pain! shakehead  

    I did work Sat, but it was nice to have off both Sunday and Monday. Our overtime at work has slowed up a lot, but somehow they seem to keep asking me...but I think that should come to an end soon. There were only two of us in the whole shop Saturday, and I never saw a boss one!

      I also found some time to play with Mrs. Screams new iPad yesterday as well....what a handy little device, but would be better with a hand strap on the backside of it, for fear of dropping it. rolleyes  

   My evenings, at least once a week are about to change, as I saw an advertisement for the new season of "Survivor" ....and Mrs. Scream goes nuts over that show, and thinks she wants to audition for it. Of course I would support her fully if it happened.

       Can you believe it got up to 106 degrees here yesterday! WOW!...it was hot! confused   However, winter should be right around the corner, and I can always handle the cold over the heat anyday.

    Have a great week and enjoy the forum!...and please keep Matt and Purgatory in your prayers today. Both are great supporters here on the forum, and they need our thoughts and prayers.

You all know what it is for me today.

After sweating out the 3 day Labor Day holiday, I desperately need to hear from my doctor's office with results from the blood tests and scans. I cant stand not knowing what is going on.

For me, it was a painfully miserable and boring 3 days to pass by, and painful. Hope today I will at least know
what is going on, even if a solution isn't fast to come. Just got to know.

I made a fair bit of progress editing this weekend, making it nearly through one of the larger chapters (15000 words). I also have been feeling that I've been taking a bit too much BT meds lately (I like to limit it to 1 dose daily) and so took none yesterday. Surprisingly, I ended up with a terrible headache and I took so much ibuprofen, I had acid reflux at night.

As for relaxation, my wife and I spent probably 20hrs over the past 3 days watching Battlestar Galactica on Netflix --- it is nice to have a SF fan as a spouse!

In about 1hr, I head into my office and will see if the recalcitrant Nissan Murano continues to park in the handicap spot.

SE -- you noted that it would be nice to have a hand-strap on your ipad.... they are available. Google "ipad case strap". I have an Android tablet and my case has such a strap.

you got me curious now. what are you editing? 15k words is a long chapter. i am a published novelist (3 books so far), so was wondering if you were a writer as well.

Its a lovely rainy day here in Maine. I woke up this morning and thought I was going to freeze to death. The plus side is today is the first day off school. I;m enjoying the peace and quiet.

We took the kids Friday night to watch the demolition races. They had a great time. Didn't do much around here all weekend.

We have the furnace guy coming out to give us an estimate later today. We need to replace the furnace and K-1 tank before it gets really cold. This it the time of year that I really would like to move. Maybe after all the kids graduate and move.

Not alot going on here this week. Waiting for hubby to get home here shortly. He had an interview for a part time 2nd job in Mexico.

It is non-fiction, a study having to do with 18th Century Europe. The book has seven chapters plus an intro.. Though a few are very long, the book overall will be only about 250 pages. It is under contract with a large academic press, the same one who published a work of mine back in 2002. However, I primarily write articles (20-40pgs) for academic journals, and look forward to returning to that scale once this book is finally done (manuscript is supposed to be delivered by mid-Jan 2013).

I had a great weekend all the way up to yesterday...Out of the blue...I was just settling in to watch a movie and I got this feeling of ice cold water going through my veins and then at the same time my heart started racing uncontrollably up to over 140bpm...

I got pale as a ghost...and was so weak I could barely talk or move....It settled down within about 20 minutes or so and I called my PM. Thankfully being friends outside of our appts. as I don't have any insurance...I have his cell phone that he says to call anytime...I wanted to know if I should go to the hospital or be worried about anything...

He said that he is concerned that because I haven't had any treatment or check ups for the pituitary tumor since 2006...that it is now wreaking havoc to cause adrenal issues with too much cortisol being released..

I have always had the lowest pulse and blood pressure for pretty much my whole life. Everyone was envious! LOL...It used to be like 96/68..But at my last PM appt. they have started doing bp and pulse checks. And just a few weeks ago my bp was 142/96 and pulse was 110 at the appt...I am a healthy weight at 125 at 5'5. I don't smoke..I eat all organic and low salt/sugar, and I walk every day.

I have been having a moments here and there where I feel this burst of adrenaline for no reason at all. While driving, or just sitting using the computer, or after getting up and walking to the kitchen. But it never had my heart racing that fast and I never really thought much of it but being a little strange to feel that way for no reason. I have always been an "adrenaline" junkie doing things like rock climbing, sky diving, and helicopter rides but even during those things my heart wouldn't race or feel like it did yesterday.

So...he thinks it is the cortisol being released too fast and too much at random times. And said to go the ER if an episode happens like that again. It was certainly scary and it felt like my heart would come popping out of my chest and in the carotid arteries it was pounding so fast.

So...that was my "fun" episode:) Whoo....

And I am like SE's wife as I am looking forward to the new Survivor....as well as the new Bachelor in a month or two, as well as NFL football season starting :) Yippee...

Well, the kids had the weekend at their Dad's, so it was (thankfully) very quiet around here. I sure miss them when they are gone, but I just remember that they always come home! So, since F1 returned after their 4 week break, it was a weekend of watching fast cars from the comfort of my couch and bed.

Spent a LOT of time in bed, as pain has been getting worse since school started back. Kids were back yesterday and went on a hunt for soccer cleats - seven stores and NO soccer cleats! Son had to use my very old softball cleats to practice in yesterday evening.

Made my official intro here, on Healing Well and spent some of my afternoon and evening replying to the wonderful welcomes I received :-)

Nothing different went on here all 3 days of the long weekend.

SE talking about his wife's ipad, sure does make me want my android pad. I'm not sure if it's around, or if Jerome threw it away by accident.

We have gotten some good rain today. I hope it helps the moderate drought that we have going on here. My back doesn't appreciate the rain though. It's been griping ever since I got up. I guess I have to put up with it.

I hope you're all having as good an evening as is possible.

Hello everyone....

Good to be reading everyone's updates.

Snowbunny - it sounds like it could be an adrenal thing.... I have lots of things happen like that - and those are the things that I struggle with (lots of endocrine stuff - pituitary, thyroid, adrenal stuff).... as well as the POTS/dysautonomia. It can certainly throw your whole system out of whack :( So I'm going to bug you about getting in to the endocrinologist :) I sure hope you feel better.

You mentioned about Vita Coco water - I LOVE that stuff. I sure wish that I would have known of it when I was at my sickest.... in/out of the hospital about 3x a week for hydration... and drinking sugary sweet Gatorade by the case-full. Coconut water has so many great benefits for your health... and I'm using it to not only help w/ my hydration issues, but to *try* to help w/ lowering my blood pressure.

And, yes, it's that time of year for our TV shows to start!! (dork alert, lol). I've given up on the watching The Bachelor for the most part. But - of course - I do just about everything else - from Survivor to Amazing Race to Dancing w/ the Stars..... I won't go on as it will literally sound like that's all I do, lol. But I DVR everything and have it going when I can't sleep or doing other things. I am a professed TV junkie.

Anyway - all the kids are back in school - yay. We have kids in 12th, 11th, 8th, 7th, 5th and 3rd - and two little girls that are turning 2 at the end of September!!!

The weekend was pretty quite here with a family movie night (wow, that's a change) and some pretty good family time.  It's a struggle because (I know most of you don't know, but my husband is a long term alcoholic) and he's been dry one month today.  That's a really big thing because his father started him drinking at age 10 and he's been "self medicating" with alcohol for 32 years.   I've never had an addiction problem (except to food maybe) but I know this is a big big deal for him and something I am praying he will be able to overcome (with his new Dr's help).

Ok...so on to the real reason I posted.....at least two of my HW family have mentioned adrenal problems and pituatary issues.  Wellllll, I went back to my absolute best Dr in the world yesterday...my endo ... and he thinks I have some odd syndrome causing adrenline dumps too.  That's too strange because Snowbunny mentioned the pituatary issue acting up and I too have  a pituatary disorder (and have to take HGH shots daily). I found that I was having these insane sweating issues and turning bright red and hot for no reason.  Not a normal sweat, but like I had run several miles and believe me I don't run.  I have water literally dropping off of my ears, my neck, my nose, my hairline (all sides) and down the backs of my legs into my shoes for no reason...it just starts (usually with pain) and I thought it was pain related, so it's very interesting that you guys have something going on with the glands too.

I'll keep posted on the new test results on a new thread, but it was my big deal for the week (so far).... shocked

Hi everyone, I said bye to my 2 grandsons on Saturday evening after 10 weeks of being here I know I will be missing them soon. We barely had started our quiet Sunday when my daughter called, she was moving and needed us to come over to help.

We ended up hauling a couple of loads and while grandpa did the lifting grandma entertained 4 yr old granddaughter who insisted on coming home with us. We took her home after mommy had a chance to unpack food.

Then later on Sunday my sister and b-i-l showed up, she is scheduled for surgery tomorrow, thank goodness it here so I can be some support for them. Her daughter will be in today as this surgery is a big one, and she will need family.

What a week I am just plain exhausted but trying to maintain a level calm, the cooking and cleaning is not what I like its what I can do. I have told everyone when I am tired I need to rest but it's hard when I will have company constantly.

No more whining from me, everyone I hope you get answers, rest, and more than anything I hope you have less pain.

That's a HUGE deal for your husband.... I'm so glad to hear of this news.... and thank you for sharing w/ us.

Re: the endocrine issues - please keep us posted on your findings. The "sweating" is a huge issue for me too (attractive, I know, NOT). It's so embarrassing.... because I have the exact same symptoms you describe. I've even had people say - "Are you ok?".... and I just assure them that it's part of my issues, lol. It's another reason that I keep my house - year around - a cool 69F... and freeze my poor children out. But otherwise, I have severe heat intolerance.

It's always so comforting to know that others are experiencing similar symptoms with our health issues even though I hate for any of us to have other problems added to our chronic pain!

Tina...I am certainly a TV junkie as well as I think I've written about before...With not working and waiting on disability, I pretty much have the tv, audiobooks, and the computer to keep my brain occupied. I watch my fair share of news as I've always been a news junkie, as well as I love shows like Jeopardy and others that keep me learning new things....I also love my certain reality and "just for fun" shows and movies.

And Tina...Yes...I definitely love that Vita Coco and try to tell people about it for not just regular nutrition, but that it's so helpful when sick..

RM...I look forward to the update from your PM appt. today and thank you for sharing the news about your husband. That really is WONDERFUL news! I will say some prayers that he follows the Drs. orders and uses every possible means to stop for good. My mom drank for a little over 30 years as well and has been sober now for 25 years!!

Rose...You are always so busy with family and friends visiting...I just hope that you are learning to say no when you can or just ask for help from your husband with the cleaning and cooking. Or you can make things "buffet" style with everyone bringing an item. It's certainly fun to spend time with people you love but just make sure you are taking care of yourself!
