However, we are back in the swing and I am finding it difficult, no, HARD as heck, to balance going to work with managing my pain..........
How DO you balance it all (for those who don't work, how do you manage activities and / or other obligations?)
I really feel for you here! I am an Occupational Therapist working in schools. My position feels slightly more flexible as I can tailor my days as needed sometimes. This year though I changed from preschool kids to high school kids. So now I no longer need to be lifting kids, however now I need to be aware of very aggressive students and always watching for outbursts. Do you have any ed consultant positions in your district that would be more itinerant, verses in the same classroom all day long?
I am not sure what the schools response would be if you went in and spoke to them about
your physical issues. I have been pretty hush, hush so far. I let a supervisor know about
my issues and meds when I worked at a hospital. She just happen to see my prescript
ion in my purse, I couldnt deny it. I was promptly told I couldnt work if I was taking "those meds". I would hope with your union you would have more protection if it came to that.
I opted for the SCS this summer. This is pretty much the last things we will try. I have promised my PM dr that if I dont get the results I need, I will think more seriously about
SSD.
I hope you can find something that works for you!
Hugs,
