Hi RM. I'm new here and not really sure of all the rules on posting links and the like so please bear with me. I use a CPAP machine as well and I have some good resources that I used this year to get a new machine (mine was like 7 years old, I refer to it as the iron lung!) at a huge discount and many others I know of have dealt with these folks as well and no one has anything bad to say. If you need any information in the CPAP area, please drop me a note when you are feeling better and I will be happy to pass on whatever info I can to you.

Hi all, I have just come back home again. Nerve root pain is somewhat better, but all of the drs at the hospital have fussing about
meds today. I got released two hours after they signed me out because the hospialist was angry w the PM & NS pain med orders. I am on way high meds & the hospital Made apts for dr apts with my pcp, my PM, my NS, and my rep all for the week of the 2 nd & 3rd.....except the PM, which is on the 18 th, but my normal med pickup date is the 10 th. Hubby went to pharmacy & they filled my mscontin script
w/10 pills instead of the 30 ordered. That has to be fixed someway too because the already called my PM & told them I was getting 30....60mg mscontin ...I have been taking 20...30mg mscontin from him, so this is going to be bad. The NS said he would call him personally to make sure I didn't get penalized, but you all know what kind of PM I have been dealing with & I just saw him a few days before the procedure.
Thank you all for the prayers and kind wishes and for keeping up with me. I never expected this to happen. Thank God I am apparently not allergic to natural steroids as I thought. I am allergic to,the synthetic ones. That is what changed everything and stopped some of the pain. I'm hoping I won't have to take all the meds given to me as long as I tahe the steroids. It's all so insane and confusing. I wanted to be done with the meds, but I will have to wait until I meet with the rep at the PM office for them to even turn the stim on.....I am terrified that I will have the horrible spasms of pain that sent me screaming back to the hospital.
I'm sorry for the drama of the whole thing....I just want my life back. You guys are the best.

Glad to see you are up to typing for a bit. I'm sorry for all the problems that keep happening. This is the hardest part when having surgery, getting all the different Drs. on the same page and same plan of treatment.
I really pray that they get the pain medicine situation fixed ASAP and that things start to change dramatically when the stim is turned on. I know it will take more time to heal from all of this and there are some very irritated nerves that will need to calm back down.
Try to take it one day at a time...one minute at a time.
We are all rooting for you!!!

Hurts me so much to read of your current pain and woes. Too much for one person to bear, makes my problems pale in comparisom. Wish more could be done for you. For those outside our world of pain, there's no way they can possibly understand what it is like to suffer for so long, in so much pain.
I understand, we understand here as a group, your CP family. So we share in your suffering, and hope and pray for better days for you. No person should have to suffer so much.
We are here for you, watching for you updates as when you are well enough to report back in,
My the peace of the Lord be with you,
David

I pray ur feeling better. I told my dr office that it is miserable having a toy that will make me happy but can't play with it. I have been not able to use my STS for 1.5 months and probably have another month wait. But, when it works, it is wonderful!
Have a merry Christmas, it will be on before you know it.

Hi my HW friends. The pain is a bit better today. I would say almost reasonable, however, I am having withdrawals bad. I had to go against dr orders today and take my Xanax xr. I know the hospital PM said not to take it with the Valium and it is reasonable for most people on small doses. I am on a 3mg xr and have been off for over 48 hours. There is no way this is not withdrawals. I will simply have to make do without the Valium and take the Xanax. The shaking is horrible. Of course the pain was worse, but the steroids have taken the swelling in my spinal cord down, so the massive spasms are better. I'll know very soon what kind of decision that was and I will be very reasonable with all the med amounts. I'm a big believer in taking what you need and not overtaking them. I won't be abusing anything. I can assure you of that, but I won't let myself get in that kind of pain again either. The shaking is improving just a little already so I'm sure this is a good move. I guess I'll just have to take it a day at a time. Thank God this last fees is over.
I feel so for all my HW family and I am sorry I haven't taking the time to respond to everyone. I am thinking of you all, but taking some healing time for me.
Merry Christmas my friends!

Many many Prayers and sure wish I could do more for you...will be thinking of you with hopes your doing better soon.

Sorry you have had such a terrible few days. Let's hope that it is all behind you now and things begin to improve. Make sure you contact your doctors if you have any doubts. Try just to take it hour by hour and keep as calm as you can, try to distract yourself with anything that works for you. I pray that when they turn the SCS on you will get the pain relief you need and every horrible thing you have had to go through will have been worthwhile.
Keep in touch, remember we care and are here for you, anxious to know how you are doing.

Just another update. Things are continuing to improve here and I have spoken to several of my drs to assure everyone is ok w/the changes. So far so good. The Xanax is much better and I am slowly getting back on track.
I was actually able to be up most of the day in my recliner, but I didn't do much else. I'm just so happy that the swelling is still down and the most of the horrible pain is gone.
Thank you all for your support!

RM, I am hoping that the surgery went well. I to have the SCS and had it for over a year and a half. I hope that you get great relief from it. Yes it is very expensive. I am now due 194.00 for the extended year warranty alone for the remote control that i need to pay for by next month. Do take it easy. its a very quick and not too painful minor surgery. HW is here for you.

Hi Lynn, that was the surgery that went wrong. It wasn't the surgeons issue or even mine, but it was basically because I had been told I was allergic to steroids and did not get them to keep the swelling down. I am actually only allergic to synthetic steroids.
I have a wonderful surgeon and several great drs on my team (minus an idiot or two) lol. Hopefully this will still be what I have been looking for in more permanent pain relief. I'll know after some more X-rays and a visit to the NS and with the rep to turn it on while I am there. If things go well it will still be worth it.
Thanks for the info.

RM, I'm happy to hear that your pain and swelling has lessened. Please remember to make sure you take it easy and get plenty of rest.
I'm sorry that you have had to go through the terrible experience with the surgery. I'll be praying once they turn on your SCS it works wonders for you.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas.
Hugs,
Barbara

Retired Mom,I am sorry you are in so much pain. I hope & pray that you find releif & success. I had post-op pain for a few weeks afterwards but nothing like you are describing, do your Dr's think you are having an allergic reaction to something?
