Need prayers for Tina.

Our Tina is quite sick right now and could use some prayers and positive vibes.

She was in the hospital on Sat. and possible getting a blood transfusion; not sure if she has been released yet. I will try calling her home tomorrow and see if i can get an update.

I just wanted to let Tina know I'm praying for her. I'm hoping she's home now and able to enjoy Christmas Eve with her family.

Tina, I understand how bad you feel when you need blood. I also know how much better you should feel after getting the blood. I pray that your Drs will soon get you fixed up.

Wow. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers... and for starting this thread, Suzane.

Still feeling rough but trying to regain strength and so forth after a really long week.... long story short, it started last week after getting some blood work because I had been feeling really run down. I've been at this so long that I can basically tell when things are way off course - and everything, including my hemoglobin (slightly above an 8).... Vitamin D (8, when the low *normal* should be 20)... etc. was out of range. Because of all of this and the fact that I was so symptomatic, my PCP put me in the hospital on Friday for a blood transfusion.

Nothing went as planned this time. They started the transfusion... and even w/ 7 or 8 transfusions under my belt by now (w/ no reaction) - I had a bad reaction.... started running a fever, rash, etc. And just feeling more lousy. So they stopped it; observed me and started a new thing of blood on Saturday - and I continued having the same reaction. So they stopped things all together. They wanted to keep me... but, this has happened before where I've opted to stay and one day turns into one week.... or even one month, one time.... so I just wanted to go home and be home for Christmas. When I left, my hemoglobin was at 9 - by no means optimal but out of the danger zone.

Basically had a low key (well, relatively) Christmas and now - just trying to gear up to get more blood work, make a couple of appointments and just continue recovering and trying to take care of myself.

Hi Tina, great to hear from you! I had a transfusion back in '05 and also had a reaction to it, unfortunately, I was loosing so much blood, they just kept pumping it in and gave me a fleet of medications to fight the reaction. Talk about an awful time. 9 bags of blood in one night. Anyways, I sure hope things calm down for you soon, we're all pulling for ya. Any news on when they're going to do that surgery? Sounded like that was going to help some of these issues causing the anemia, obviously it wouldn't be good, however, to jump the gun and do it when your in such a bad condition. I hope things turn around for you soon. Take care, we're praying for you.

Just a thought - when I was having problems with anemia (Hgb pretty much the same yours, only difference being I'm a 20 yr. old male - making it even more uncommonly low) and resultant syncope upon standing, they did a series of iron infusions. Less risk of complications and overall faster recovery. Thought I'd throw it out there in case you continue to have problems.
