Hello, I have a barrage of bone and joint issues that I have had for the past 40 yrs, before they ever thought about
fibromyalgia. I had been diagnosed as a child with degenerative bone disease (brittle bones), juvenile arthritis ( which developed into full blown osteo and rheumatoid arthritis by age of 16, and had already broken about
20 bones in my body. Later in life, that number is now more than 36! Lost track after I was hit by a car 10 1/2 years ago while crossing the street. Now, fibromyalgia has been added to the mix, but was definitely apparent in my teens. I have sciatica that is severe due to my 4th lumbar being damaged as a child, and my 5th lumbar damaged when I was hit by the car. I now have a permanent titanium rod that takes up entire right femur, and absolutely no knee on my left as I did not have enough bone mass for an artificial after I cracked my knee cap and it would not stay in place. When hit by the car, I was left with 80% pelvic fractures, which turned into 3 complete breaks! I now find that a storm can be 2 states away and I will feel it! I can tell if it is electrical, or if we will actually get any ourselves. I live in Phoenix, AZ, and rain does not come often. I have found that if there is even a minor shift In barometric pressure, I feel it, even if only 2 or 3 tenths! If higher pressure, I feel squished, and if lower pressure, I feel like I'm being ripped apart!! Thunderstorms and microbursts are worse because I bounce back and forth as I feel every lightning strike as well as the thunder. However, I have found that soaking in an Epsom salt bath during these bad times helps alleviate the really bad pains and struggles. Also, keeping feet, legs and hands warm is key to control. I also get bad when Temps get over 90 here, so no, I would not suggest anyone move here with serious bone and joint pain. The summers are way to hot to mess with. I've been here 18 years and looking for a better place to go. Even if it is somewhere it actually rains, after a day or two, my body settles down, if thunderstorms are not present!
