Hi all, I decided it was about
time for a new SCS update. Basically, we have had a few ups and down, but mostly ups. The downs were basically because I overdid it (something you all understand well).
Today we did another re-programming. The one last week was somewhat different when I got home and tried to actually use the new programs. We tried a few things today, removing a few that were too high on the frequency scale and adding some new options. Finally I asked if there was at least one other electrode we could play with to see what we might get. My rep(s) are wonderful, so the lady today was very receptive to trying it. The first time, stimulation ended up in my arms instead of my back and legs...wow was that strange. We tried another one and hit the PERFECT spot! It is covering my back perfectly, with minimal wrapping and less stimulation in the bottom of my feet. Don't get me wrong, the feet need some stimulation, but not quite as much as I was getting. So, she gave me three "copies" of that setting, each with a unique and quite comfortable frequency change. I now have 8 to choose from and a great series of programs to use when different pain is getting me.
I'll be checking in again in 3-4 weeks for another reset or adjustment to the stimulation strength. She thinks the usefulness of the units is directly impacted by the adjustments at the proper time. We also figured out that the stim is not working as well upon waking, as I have excessive fluid retention and I have now started to take my bp med w/diuretic in the afternoon as well as the morning. Because it was already written that way and dr approved, I didn't even have to make serious med changes.
The bottom line is that life is so different since I had my stim turned on. I am amazed that I am loosing weight, wanting to get up and do things, and NOT walking like A DUCK OR WITH A CANE!!! I feel so much better abut myself, but I have a long way to go still. I just wanted to let my HW family know what having this system has done for me. I pray it continues to give me this relief!
Thank you all for your support during this experience!!!!

i guess the thing to understand is that the scs changes the way you feel the pain but the mechanics of your spine is still the same so we need to know how far we can go before we've overdone it.....keep up the great effort....knowledge is the key....pal pete

Hi RM, I'm so happy for you that your SCS is such a success! Take care, and I hope the SCS gives you some QOL back. Just please be careful not to overdo it, I have been told many times by my doc, as I'm sure we all have, just because something helps with the pain, doesn't mean we can be any less careful, and that injury is very possible if we try to go beyond our limits.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

Great news. I had a setback, battery overheating, and having it turned on Wednesday! I am still down over half pain meds even without it still! But the SCS is a lifesaver, IMO.
