Hello, I am sorry to be a pest but I'm a mess right now. Due to a prescription mix up/miscommunication I am with drawling from hydrocodone. I have been on it for two and a half years, never exceeding more than 30mg a day, normally 22.5mg a day. I'm really having a hard time right now, the pain is bad but what is really bothering me is how on edge I am. I have severe anxiety and agitation right now. Best way to describe it is I have wanted to hit something all day. I'm being very short and snappy with my family who has been wonderful, I feel like I can't control it. I tried meditation and ended up throwing my headphones/phone across the room. I know if I can relax it would be better but I just can't seem too. Has anybody experienced this or have advice on things I can do to deal with this.

I'm no stranger to that anxiety/agitation.... lack of patience.... whatever you want to call it -- I go through this is they are switching my meds around, doses around, etc. For you - it seems to be due to not have the hydrocodone.

Do you have an appt for later in the week to get your refill?

As for the anxiety..... if you've clinically been diagnosed w/ anxiety and happen to have a short-acting med on hand (Ativan, etc) - that would be my first stop.

If not -- benadryl will often take some of those yucky feelings away..... that being said - it doesn't knock me on my butt like it used too.... so if you aren't used to taking benadryl, just know it can make you quite tired! That just might be what you need to sleep, though.

I don't drink alcohol.... but, if I did - I might try a glass (or two, lol) of wine in this situation.....

That's about all I can think of right now. Sure hope you have an appt set to talk w/ your doctor.... it IS for the end of this week, right? Hopefully you've just got a day or two of feeling so lousy! Hang in there --Tina

Sorry to hear about how things are going...

A few other suggestions are going for a nice walk or doing some form of exercise that can get your blood flowing and endorphins mixed in there.

Speaking of those...if you have a partner then enjoying some "quality time" together..LOL...That always puts me in a good mood!

Put some nice, relaxing music on and take a long bath.

Rent/watch some favorite tv shows or movies that make you laugh.

So the Dr. or nurse hasn't even called back these past two days?

Thank you. I was diagnosed with anxiety years ago but after the first year of taking xanax, I was able to find other ways to control it. I did take two benedryll (thank you, I didn't even think of that). I'm a bit tired now so hopefully I can get a nap in. I was able to get an appointment for tomorrow evening so hopefully this hell will be over soon.

It's funny how we are all different because whenever I need to take Benadryl (rarely) for an allergy issue, it wires me up like 10 cups of coffee! LOL

Glad it's working for you and happy to hear that they were able to move up your appt.!

I know what you're going thru. I am starting to go thru withdrawals of Fentanyl. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder back in 1986. I take klonopin for it. Right now, the klonopin isn't touching it. I hope you can get some rest in. Listen to some relaxing music, and take a bath. I can't think of anything else. Hang in there.

Sorry Mommy that your dealing with this. Its fairly common with w/d and Tina and SB have given you some good advice about what works.

The only thing I can add is the higher range dosing on immodium AD works at calming too. Sounds weird but it works.

The times I've been in that situation I just try to stay as isolated and calm as possible since I am afraid I will say things to people or my kids and they wont understand its not me talking. I'm not fit for even myself. Lol

Hopefully this time tomorrow it will be over.,

While I don't have those issues, my husband does - severly, so I can completely understand where your coming from. He gets to the point where he can't control himself sometimes and gets in a major rage. I usually will give him a shot of NyQuil (or Benadryl) as well and it usually works (if his Ativan doesn't, that is). He also has propranolol to take as well, the only problem with that is it takes too long to kick in. Of course, sometimes I have to give him the "tough love" to snap him out of it, then I can baby him and that always works.

Also, never apologize for venting, that's what we're here for, to help each other. 8-)

I have never been on hydrocodone, but I missed a dose of Gabapentin (am on a really high dose) a few times and after a few hours past the dosage-taking time I start to feel VERY anxious and colours/patterns start to look a bit strange around me. Never gone past a few hours so can only imagine what happens after that.

Is there no way you can call the doctor and get a small emergency prescription done?

I really feel for you & hope it gets resolved before you're so far into it will be hard to get the pain under control. Please let us know how you are doing.

I would like to thank everybody for their support. Everything got straightened out and I somehow ended up with two different scripts for hydro (a little annoyed that on Monday they decided to call in my refill but never called me to tell me that), then at my appointment today I got a new script. (I did call the pharmacy when I realized that the meds I picked up were filled on Monday and the pharmacist said she would just hold on to it and not fill)

I have one last question, I took a pill about two and a half hours ago. Im feeling about 60% better but still have some nausea and not getting quite the same level of pain relief. Is this common since I have not had any meds for a few days and if so, can I expect it to get better soon? Just trying to figure out if I'm fighting a stomach bug or if this is part of w/d.

I would say that's pretty normal since the level of hydro had dropped in your system and the build up is what helps keep the pain leveled out to some degree.

After another few doses you should start to feel alot better.

Really nice of them to call you.

Thank you. Im feeling much better this morning, still glued to the heating pad but thats common for me in the morning (especially when I have a blonde moment and forget to close the windows before bed).
