By all means, trigger finger surgery is not pleasant.  Recovery is day to day.  Heal well!

Hi all great forum here,I have trigger finger and have already received the shot directly into the hand (no luck)
I am scheduled for surgery in a week,the guy who set up the appt. isn't the same one who will be doing the surgery and he said 2 things which I am wondering about
1.No PT
2.no sling to keep arm raised
Were you guys told this at all???

I have had several trigger finger releases. I have never used a sling after any of them. I did not have any hand therapy after the first. I was referred to hand therapy after the second because I had three fingers and carpal tunnel all at the same time. I also did have therapy after my last revision because of complications caused by dupuytrens disease. I was always told I would not have hand therapy afterward unless there were complications.

No surgery is ever fun, but trigger finger release is relatively easy as far as surgery goes.

I had carpal tunnel surgery with trigger finger release done years ago and was never placed in a sling.

I did have PT after that surgery on my hand but that may have been due to the ulnar nerve transposition surgery that was also done at the same time. Most of the PT revolved around getting use of fingers again and also preventing scar tissue from forming.

Be careful going back to work to soon. Listen to what the dr has to say. I worked the day of surgery last time because surgery was late in the afternoon and even though I had found myself a sub, another teacher called in sick. Then I did go back to work the next day. I was careful not to use my hand as my dr said, but was exhausted.

I go back in for more hand surgery June 17th. I am glad I know I don't have to go back to work the next day.

So do you think I should take the day after also?
I have never had surgery of any kind in my life and have no clue what the anesthesia will do to me

Ask your drs advice on that one. Yes everybody handles anesthesia differently. Part of it depends on the kind and amount of anesthetic.

surgery is done and over

It didn't last long but I was also asleep stitches come out next Thursday

Hopefully I wont have this problem again

Glad it's done and sounds as if your doing OK so far. Be sure and follow any directions the surgeon may have given you.
