Hello everyone,
Came across this site and decided to join.
Diagnosed with DDD, Bulging disks, arthritis and pinched nerves in 2010. In pain 24/7, have a caring doctor but I feel I am way under treated as he will only prescribe 60 hydrocodone 5/500 per month one to be taken every 12 hours.

Been terminated from my last 2 employers due to the fact that I could not physically perform the job requirements anymore. Have pending SSD claim but have already been turned down twice and currently have filed an appeal.

Very frustrated as many of you are by the culture today in regards to chronic pain.

Hi Tziggy,

I'm sorry you are in so much pain... Have you spoken to your doctor about the amount of pain you experience with your current treatment plan? What does he/she say? Have you mentioned that you are unable to work and perform day to day tasks? It seems they would try something else. It was a few years before we found a combination for me. Also, do you take any meds besides narcotics?

I have asked DR to increase hydrocodone to 10mg, the call I got back from the office was DR is concerned about addiction. Don't see how that would be a problem being that I only take 2 pills a day. He tried the SSRI route but those made me feel like crap.

I don't want to complain too much because I don't want to lose the 5mg that I am getting now even though they provide little relief.

Been thru the pain clinic scam, never do that again. Just feel like the DR is caught up in the political game of prescribing pain meds, Instead of trying to find a good level that will help me.

Hi tziggy Welcome to our chronic pain family. We have a great group of people here that are very supportive and caring. I'm sorry that your doctor won't increase your pain meds. It's really sad that doctors worry about their patients getting addicted, when they have never been addicted or had any problem with illegal drugs. I hope you feel better really soon.

Hi Tziggy,

Just saying hi and welcome to the forum. Sorry about all your diagnosis. It's tough when we can't work because of the amount of pain we're experiencing. It's weird the doctor would increase dosage. Maybe it's because of the diagnosis? Can't he switch medications so you can probably try something else to get relief?

Hope you can get some pain relief soon.

Tziggy, it is quite common to be refused twice for SSDI, they are trying to weed out the the ones that don't really qualify. I was denied twice and I have what my Drs. call terminal cancer though I don't believe them (PCa). Make sure that on your third application you fill it out immediately and be sure to stress the psychological/mental stress it has put on you . . . being fired twice when that's never happened before, the strain of no money, any suicidal ideations, things on that line. Dig deep when you fill out that last few pages where they ask for YOUR opinion. Don't attack them, just tell them how it is driving you edit crazy. Believe me when I tell you that the judge put more weight on my mental health than he did my physical well being. Go figure.

Welcome to our family... I have a question... do you have an attorney for your SSD claim? I went for 3 years with 2 denials and finally got a local Disability Attorney and he got me a Hearing this past December 12th... I found out that day that the Judge was approving me... only waited for 2.5 weeks for my letter and started getting Disability on Jan. 1, 2013 with Medicare going back 1 year....

I have the same problem with my Dr. putting me off when I want to discuss the LA Pain meds... I've been seeing him since August 4, 2012. Don't give up on either problem... We are always here for you..

Hi Rhonda,

Yes I did get a local lawyer in March, no word yet on a hearing.
I've had 2 doctors disable me permanently, so I was kind of shocked SSD turned me down twice. I had never dealt with SS before so I guess that this is how they operate.
