I guess I'll be the first this week.

I've now stopped tramadol (after nearly 7 years on it) and have only been taking cymbalta as an ER. It is now 2 weeks and I'm not sure it is helping yet. As a result, I've been taking more BT medication (average of 4 5mg oxycodone per day)... and spending more time in bed.

I spent most of the weekend watching Stargate Atlantis online, 5 or 6 episodes a day! Today, however, I've finally returned to my desk and am trying to get started on a new article.

Hey cogito, welcome back! (Is your book completed)
I have one doctors appointment this week and I'm so fired up for it, it'll either mean I can restart the methotrexate or not(for RA)...I sure hope I can get back on this medication...Woke up this morning so very tired and stiff, low back has me on almost crying terms...
and I awaiting calls for getting into the neuro and getting PT re started...
So very tired!

I still feel pretty good after my change in dosage for BT, but I did wayyyy too much on Saturday which resulted in me laying down all day Sunday. LoL... This week is pretty humdrum except for Wednesday... Cause that's my 35th birthday! So I'm taking it easy today and tomorrow so I can feel good to celebrate. My kids usually cook dinner for me and make a cake so I'm really looking forward to it.

I hope everyone is having low pain days. Cheers to another week!

I am checking into the surgery center in about two hours for more hand surgery. Since I never had my pre-op appointment last week because they never called to reschedule it, I don't know exactly how much he will be doing. They did call to say the pre-op appointment was not necessary and he would just decide today, but that has had me more anxious and nervous all weekend.

I think he is planning on doing two separate procedures, but I will know in about 2 1/2 hours when I see him before surgery.

I had physio on Saturday. I now have 3 more sessions and then may have to visit the ortho for an evaluation to see any improvements or not...
I had an app with my GP on Saturday as well. I visited him earlier last week since I started to feel very feel and came down with fever and had headaches and body aches. He took some blood for a thyroid test. Got the results on Saturday. It was good, only one of the hormone level was lower than usual but he said he wouldn't give any meds for it.

No major plans for my upcoming week. Hoping it will pass soon since my week have started off painful. Neck pains seems to be unbearable yesterday and just got worst today. Wednesday is a public holiday so I'm looking forward to that.

Hi Chartreux,

The book is pretty much done -- the manuscript was sent to the publisher about 6 weeks ago and I got the first set of "queries" last week -- asking me about various overlooked typos and the like. I'm suppose to get one more set of queries this week and then the page proofs a few weeks later. The publisher now has the book advertised on their website and I've been told that it will hit shelves in the U.K. in October then December in the U.S. (because of printing backlog in each country). I know of one journal that has already assigned a reviewer and one professional society that will be holding a symposium (i.e. this is being seen as an important book in my field).

Wow cogito, that's wonderful...We are almost half way to December, this Friday Marks the first day of Summer and the longest day of the year! Keep us posted on that, sounds great and give yourself a pat on the back.

Well, I had a doctor appointment with my regular PCP, he said that my ongoing hip pain is probably bursitis and not related to my back, but He gave me the order for an MRI, so I get that done tomorrow. Other than that, the weekend was OK, nothing special, but nothing bad either, so I can live with that. This week I have the MRI and my son is coming to spend the night, so well have a big meatloaf dinner. AND i get to meet my grand-puppy tomorrow. LOL.

I am trying my luck at going back to work this week. I am there right now. So far so good. I have been here about four hours. I am not doing a good job of focusing but right now I am proud of myself for just being here. My muscles and joints have been hurting really bad. Three weeks ago I called my Rhemi and they said go to your PCP and see if you have a virus. So I did and they said maybe so they gave me a steroid shot. four days late and not a stitch better back to PCP. This time because of the immuno supp they gave me antibiotics. Take them for a week and still not better so I call the Rhemi back and of course it is a Friday. They do not call me back till Monday and of course the doctor is on vacation for the whole week. The nurse did call me in a steroid dose pack though.

Tedd, it's good to hear you're back at work. Remember to take it easy. Sorry about your pain problems. It sounds like you had a run around from one doc to another. Hope you get some pain relief soon.

alsoinpain, hope you MRI app goes well tomorrow.

Last week of school here so its been crazy. 1/2 day tomorrow for the kids and they're out until Aug 28th.

Been running around with our youngest because of her foot. PT twice a week and she has an appointment with the orthotic center on Thursday. Hopefully this works or she's looking at surgery in a couple of years.

No appointments for me this week. Thank goodness. Trying to get a few things done around the house that I've been putting of for to long.

Thanks UA but boy oh boy just when you think things are getting better. Yesterday I was having a little more pain that usual. Well today I went to the bathroom and afterwards I had a stabbing lighting hot pain in my stomach. It is the same feeling pain they called my neuralgia but. In it not in the rib it is definitely in the stomach area. I called my GI. I have to go for blood work tomorrow, a CT Thursday, and an appt Monday. Tomorrow was already full because my mom has two doctors appts and I have one. Plus now I just went back to work and Thursday I will now have to be late. UGH

Didn't make the trip to Charleston, was in too much pain. My wife went, I spent all of Father's Day weekend alone, until Sunday evening. My youngest son/girlfriend came over, took me to Outback's, and then we watched a 3-D movie on my new Tv.

Wife and daughter came home late Monday. Good to see them both.

It took 8 1/2 days for this most recent cycle of severe severe pain to finally break. Was back to "normal" pain yesterday and first part of today.

Today, took the girls shopping all over the place, was on my feet, and walked too much. Tonight, severe severe pain back with a vengeance, wish I could be severed from the waist down.

If I don't hear from my doctor by mid-day, going to put in an urgent call. Things are definitely ramping up for the worse for me. Hate all this, I really do.
